"no more sweenney or garret anderson kind of situations"

I hope those days never comeback.

Not as good as Gwynn, He was one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball. I would have rather seen rivera go. Just to be clear i don't think it's a huge deal, just saying i would have preferred Gwynn was kept.

Are ya'all thinking that our outfield is set for next year and we just need to have a 4th outfielder. If that's the case, let me remind you the Victorino is a 'rental' until the end of the year when he bcomes a free agent. So, more than likely, we'll need to fill a starting roll in the outfield, along with a '4th', again. Who knows, we may sign Victorino to a short term contract but, it will be based on his performance THIS year.

I believe we will have some others to choose from in the off-season, including Puig who may win the outfield roll in spring training. I believe they'll bring Puig up when they do the September call ups but, he probably won't get much playing time this year.

>>>>Puig should be our 4th OF for a couple of years<<<

lol still with that?

They didn't pay $42 million to have him sit in the minors for 3 years and THEN bring him up to be the 4th OF and ride the bench for the next 3.

Victorino is gong to want a 3-5 year contract after this year. We aren't going to want to give that to him, or any major OF on the FA for that matter, so Victorino will walk.

Still with what? This is the first time I mention it.

Why do you assume that he will be in the minors for 3 years then come up and be on the bench another 3?

What I said was give Victorino a short term contract if he performs the rest of the way and use Puig as the 4th OF playing him 2- 3 times a week unless he tears the cover off the ball and forces us to play him everyday. At that point we can trade Victorino if he loses his job to Puig. I want to see them incorporate Puig slowly into the lineup much like they did with SuperMatt and Andre since I'm hoping he doesn't crash and burn if they just throw him out there.

Arash Markazi?@ArashMarkazi

James Loney just got to Dodgers clubhouse. Shane Victorino looks at wrist and says, "You MFers better start showing up earlier around here."

This is the kind of clubhouse leader we need!!!!

My mistake, thought you said 4th OF in a few years, not for a few years....in the Puig thread a lot of people are saying we won't see Puig in the MLB for a few years...thought you were continuing that!

Still, Victorino won't take a small contract, and I can't imagine who would win the OF job out of ST nex year over Puig?

or, maybe he said "hey, MFer's, Hawaii in the house, and you better get with it, and Loney, what's wrong with you"?

*********They didn't pay $42 million to have him sit in the minors for 3 years **********

not this ownership, 42 mill is peanuts, they pay 6 mill a yr for this kid, geeze this ownership loses 6 mill a week in pocket change, doing laundry, just sayin, they're not wringing their hands over when this kid makes it to the show. they are not going to wait for anybody.

<"You MFers better start showing up earlier around here.">

Truth be known, Victorino probably still had his watch set to EDT and this whole thing is much to do about nothing.

whatever was said, implied, thought, or suggested; the Dodgers won a game yesterday that in the past few months would have been a loss. Victorino, Ethier, Kemp, Ellis, either or), whomever; they played together, they played hard, and that is a game they can be proud of!

I am of the minority that thinks Victorino will be right there in the Dodgers outfield next season if they don't go after Josh Hamilton. I don't think Puig is major league ready despite that huge contract that was given to him.

Puig will be in AA next year and ready for 2014. Victorino wants to stay here per the espn article. He already likes being away from that accursed Philthadelphia fan base and team.

If Victorino is fine with a one year contract, I'm sure he'll be a Dodger next year.

However I'm sure he's gonna test the market looking for a 3-5 year contract. Why wouldn't he want a longer contract??
