Only time will tell. I think both catchers will be good. The only question is "will Latos prove himself worthy of the cost of acquiring him?" Grandal for Latos could turn into one of the worst trades of all time if Latos doesn't pitch well.

The deal is essentially two years of Volquie for FOUR years of LAtos. I like Latos, and the fact Reds actually have a big boi rotation for the first time in EVER .........but Walt over paid. I think Grandal will MASH. Reds should have gotten Headley or Venable in the deal IMO, and then they would never have signed Pudstink. Now how good does that sound now?!!!

I think Soto might also project as a possible corner outfielder. Seems like he has played 3rd base as well. I'm not 100% on him having played 3rd some but for some reason I am thinking he has.

Grandal played very well in AAA. He is probably neck-and-neck with DMes right now. The Pads chose to leave him in the minors where he could play every day while we chose to let Mes learn in the bigs.

Grandal is a baller for sure. He's the ONLY player we traded who I miss.

I think he needs to be learning exactly as he is. He's catching major league pitchers and calling signals against major league hitters. He isn't going to learn how to do those things in the minors.

Everyone has to consider Mez is a rookie and look for bigger and better things two to three years from now. Seems as though everyone is forgetting. The man is learning on the Job.

He gets to learn under Hannigan. Not at bad mentor at all.

I agree, I'm happy with the way he's been handled. The trend in MLB is to ease rookie C's into the ML game and learn under an experienced signal caller. DMes still has a long way to go defense wise. Hanigan remains a huge asset to the team. He would be a big loss right now if he is injured.
