He sort of hinted last nite that he'll want 28.
And it's basically available.

Who had it this year? Nobody.
Well actually 4 guys. :-) (just checked)

Claggett
Shelley Duncan
Tomko
Towers

In other words, it's his for the asking.

P.S. Something that MIGHT make him keep from switching, if he thinks about it and if he cares.....

If he keeps switching numbers, the Yanks won't know what to do if and when they ever thinking of retiring his number. :-)

LOL I wonder what'll happen when he runs into a # that is occupied.

#32 is retired, so I really wonder what would happen then if we're lucky enough to win 4 more rings in his time here.

He could jump right to 33 but he'd have to wrestle Swisher for it.

I would think he may take #28. Of course, he may keep #27 because (1) it was his first championship and (2) it becomes shticky if he keeps changing his number every year after we win a championship (assuming we win lots more).

He'll have to take #28 away from Melky. I'm sure Melky won't mind :)

Actually Melky wouldn't be involved....he USED TO wear 28 but he's had 53 for a while now.

When he gets to 30, he's gonna have to ask Robertson to give it up.

Scaroo # 28. He should just go for the gusto and put on # 50!

I say he keeps it. I mean, he can't keep bumping up a digit every year if they keep winning, that's a bit ridiculous.

They'll just retire a Taylor series. It's not like a lot of players have those on their jerseys anyways.

That sounds real funny even though I have no idea what that is. :-)
Mind you, I STUDIED it! In fact, I went beyond it. But it didn't do me a bit of good.
I remember that Maclaurin series is a type of Taylor series (or is it the other way around). :-)
I don't think I ever had any real idea of what was THE POINT of those. I could do the manipulations that we needed to be able to do, and I gave the "right answers" most of the time. But I had no clue what was going on.
And now I have even less clue.
Just goes to show something or other.......

Based on what I have heard, Joe will be wearing 28 next season.

When Mike Francesa aked him that question today, he said he'd like to change to #28 for next season ... but he'd have to check with Shelley Duncan 1st bout taking his #.

Duncan wears #28 when he comes up to the bigs..but somehow I don't think he'll object to giving it up.

The "gap" hits when they get to 32....that number is retired. He can probably negotiate up til then with active players.....but we should be so lucky if we hit 32 while Joe is managing. That's 4 more WS championships before he'd need that number!

:)
