I hope Derek Jeter on behalf of the New York Yankees recongizes in his speech the pitcher from California Angels, Nick Adenhart and the Philadephia Phillies annoucer, Harry Norbert Kalas, who died this year. Both didn't get a chance to participate in this year's post season although they loved baseball so much they should be remember as true baseball heroes. Derek knows how hard it is to win, with the extra emotional pressure of carrying departed souls with him. We will never forget September 11th 2001. It was nice to see the troops from the USS New York, built from the steel of the Twin Towers, there at the game. Because we will never forget all the people who died that day. They were all heroes to us and most were Yankee Fans. Like my school mate, Tommy Dowd, family man, business man, yankee fan forever.

sorry, its not his job to dedicate his speech or championship to people who are completely unrelated to the Yankees.

The Yankees are baseball and these people are baseball people. Since the Yankees are at top of baseball, I feel they can show their respect.

Im feel 100% for the both of those people who died this year. But Adenhart will probably not be remembered as a true baseball hero, as he was a rookie for the Angels. He will be remembered, however. I hope the Angels make some kind of area for Adenhart to be remembered.

Right -- those things have absolutely no part in what will be going on.

IMO it would actually be INAPPROPRIATE to mention those things.

Did Pujols give a speech about Cory Lidle when the Cards won the Series that year?

Agree. No need to mention it and it's probably not even appropriate.

Half the people there would be nervously tapping their fingers.
The other half would be rolling their eyes.
And the third half would be throwing up.

90% would have nothing to say. The other half would be speechless!

Looks like we agree that 200% of the people would be against it.

Who is this Jeter person that you speak of?

I disagree. I think that it would come off as completely cheesy. While those people are to be respected, they do not belong in any World Series championship speech.

I'm with you on this, & I'm guessing that "Bronxsboy" & his 10 Total Posts is probably NOT a Yankees fan, hoping to cast negative light on Jeter & our team, for NOT honoring his inappropriate request at this time ... but I might be wrong.

I think you're right.
I can't imagine that an idea like that would ever occur to anybody but an ANGEL fan.
Unless the person was completely psychotic. :-)
