A vote on House health care legislation may face a delay as Democratic leaders admitted Friday they don't have the support of 218 Caucus members, but any changes in the legislation to appease wavering members could force Speaker Nancy Pelosi to break a pledge to post the final bill online for 72 hours before lawmakers vote.

Translation: Pelosi asked all the dems who oppose the bill what she could slip into it to get them to vote for it. Then she'll sneak the changes in at the last minute hoping the vote will happen before anyone sees what's in it.

Hah! Sneak something in? That's how we came to near financial collapse: a Republican senator named Phil Gramm tacked on an amendment to an 11,000-page omnibus bill, deregulating the trading of derivatives. Enron was the first victim. AIG and Lehman Brothers were two others. The big losers were the American people, however.

I should have said shareholders and employees. Enron took full advantage of what Republicans offered and crashed as a result.
