I thought it might be fun to post tidbits as we await the results of tonight's off-year races.

Here's one: The Christie campaign is complaining to the state election commission and calling for an investigation of Democratic robocalls promoting independent candidate Chris Daggett in Republican friendly parts of the state. < http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/christie-camp-calls-for-state-investigation-of-dem-robocalls-promoting-indy-candidate-daggett.php?ref=fpblg

And another: We have late reports that police had to be called to a St. Lawrence County polling sites when frenzied and sticker clad Hoffman backers refused to leave the 100 foot non-electioneering zone around the poll. They were "yelling anti-choice stuff at voters," says a former state Dem chair. < http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/report-police-called-to-ny-23-polling-sitesto-deal-with-rowdy-hoffman-backers.php?ref=fpblg

Comment by poster XL says it best. It annoys me that Democrats are using those sorts of dirty tricks in NJ.

That wouldn't fly here. I'd be all over someone, especially after pitching a fit last year when GOP operatives were sending letters to minority Democrats advising them to come back on Wednesday if the lines were too long on Tuesday.

I don't care for the teabaggers acting up in New York, either.

What exactly were they doing? The blog entry wasn't clear on what they were doing.

They were plastered with tea party paraphernalia: stickers, buttons, crazy hats, costumes and screaming comments at voters as they came to the polls.

Hmm. NBC's exits show 15% of the electorate in Virginia was African-American compared to 20% last year. I wonder what the heck that means?

The Republican (McDonnell) is winning big with 5% of the vote counted. I think he'll carry this one.

Fox can't get its news act together to save it's own life. Showing a big picture of Corzine and Christie (NJ Gubernatorial Candidates) over a headline that blares "Polls Close in Virginia." The problem? The polls in New Jersey close an hour later than those in Virginia.

TPM has the image: < http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2009/11/foxnewsfrontpagefail.php?ref=fpblg

ETA:

McDonnell (R) wins in Virginia.

Your tidbits aren't as fun as watching liberals pay the price for Obama's radical agenda. OUCH!! That's gonna leave a mark. Country is still right of center. Obama = mistake.

Hey, do you think Bruce Springsteen appreciates Governor-elect Christie using his song at his victory speech?

Ok, here's my second guess...you're a complete fool if you dont see this as a major turn of events on the politcal landscape. Your guy is looking more and more like Jimmy Carter every day.

Yeah it was not a really good day for the Democrats today, that's for sure.

"Only a complete fool would see tonight's election results as a turn of events, let alone major. "

Why? Because you say so??

Seats that belonged to one party are now in the hands of the other. I'd call that the definition of a "turn of events".

The good news to me isn't that Republicans won. I could care less about that. The good news is that the conservative candidates won. Now I hope they keep their campaign promises to reduce government spending and waste. If they don't, vote 'em out and keep finding new ones until someone does keep their promises.

This is also some proof that the tea party movement was anything but "astroturf".
