    • Jeremiah Wright: The Gift That Keeps Giving (video link)

Hey All,

Another video of Jeremiah Wright has surfaced.

It’s good stuff, too.

Wright’s speech before the Socialist Monthly Review’s anniversary celebration, in September, had everything you’d want from a Jeremiah Wright appearance; praise of Marxism, a discussion of his ties to Communists in El Salvador and Nicaragua and the Libyan government, and a gratuitous put down of the United States: “land of the greed and home of the slave.”

How Socialist is Monthy Review, you ask?

The contributors to Monthly Review include former Weather Underground terrorist Bernardine Dohrn; Marilyn Buck, another former Weather Underground member; convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal; Bill Fletcher, Jr., a founder of Progressives for Obama; and Chomsky.

Here’s Obama’s Pastor for 20 years holding forth before the Communist luminaries at the Monthly Review celebration, (and let’s face it, they’ve had a lot celebrate about, lately):

I don't see anything out of line in that video. The man speaks quite a few truths in the 3-minute snip portrayed there. The "herd mentality," as opposed to coming to grips with the uncomfortable truths of the real world, is a huge problem for Americans. I liked him invoking Dr. King's three evils: militarism, capitalism, and racism. Here's a link to the full speech: < http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/45a/058.html.

I don't know what you took from the remark "land of the greed and the slave," but, to me, he's talking about being a slave to money and the accumulation of riches, often at the expense of one's fellow man.

"I don't know what you took from the remark "land of the greed and the slave," but, to me, he's talking about being a slave to money and the accumulation of riches, often at the expense of one's fellow man."

That was certainly the inflamatory part.

To me, it sounded like he was baiting.......again. It's out of line to bring up slavery in the present tense, especially when so many people that buy into all that rabble rousing need lessons on personal responsibility from actual community role models first and foremost.

Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't Jeremiah Wright a millionaire? He's just like everyone else on the left. It's ok for me to be greedy and have money. It's just not ok for everyone else.

Isn't it greedy to drive a luxury car when you could have bought a regular car and donated the rest to "your fellow man"? Of course, I don't think so. But that's the hypocritical class warfare thinking of the left at work.

I bet Wright stayed at the best luxury hotel when he was flown into town to give that speech. He could have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express like the rest of us and donated the extra $1,000 to charity.

Greedy!!!!

>>The "herd mentality," <<

You response is a perfect example of the herd mentality.

No kidding.

If you break her down by demographics (aka: her "herd"), she believes EXACTLY the same as 97% of her demographic. 97%!!!

But you and I are in a "herd" because we agree with approximately 45% of our respective demographics. Even less in your case because you are a woman, and women are predominately left-leaning.

["To me, it sounded like he was baiting.......again. It's out of line to bring up slavery in the present tense, especially when so many people that buy into all that rabble rousing need lessons on personal responsibility from actual community role models first and foremost."]

Agghh! He's not talking about physical slavery. Instead his message refers to the mental slavery (or the addiction or worship) of money and the accumulation thereof.

["Correct me if I'm wrong - isn't Jeremiah Wright a millionaire? He's just like everyone else on the left. It's ok for me to be greedy and have money. It's just not ok for everyone else.

This is all conjecture... maybe character assassination... on YOUR part. You have no way of knowing where he stayed or what kind of car he drives. These things, plus snark and innuendo, aren't going to carry you far in any meaningful discussion.

From the link provided:

Trinity United Church of Christ is building Barack Obama's controversial former pastor a million-dollar Tinley Park home complete with an elevator, whirlpool, butler's pantry, circular driveway and four-car garage, building plans show.

The four-bedroom home being built for the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is in the Odyssey Club neighborhood, which boasts some of Tinley Park's largest homes and a mix of town homes. It backs up to the Odyssey Country Club and golf course.
=============================

Elevator? Whirlpool?? Four car garage???

And he's lecturing people on being "greedy".

Typical hypocrite lefty - "when I make money it's great, but when other people do it's greedy".

You're going to have to do better than throwing out 97% and 45% to make a point here. You're making up numbers that have no basis in fact.

Have you bothered to look at how this house compares with those of the more notable white televangelists? I can tell you flat-out that Rod Parsley's house (or at least the one here in central Ohio) is far grander than the one Trinity built for Reverend Wright. Those guys live in opulence, as evidenced every time one of them gets into trouble with the law. They all preach the "prosperity gospel," which is, as best as I can tell, a way for them to fleece their parishioners into giving them the riches they desire.

If you want another example, take a look at how your representatives and senators live.

You brought up how dangerous the "herd" mentality of conservatives is.

96% of African Americans voted for Obama.

54% of young white voters voted for Obama. That puts me in the 46% minority, or well outside the herd.

So two wrongs make a right now? They do, however, apparently make a (Jeremiah) Wright.

FACT: He lives in a million dollar house that was given to him for free and he's preaching to others about the dangers of "greed" - to a room full of communist sympathizers no less!!

Hypocrite. I don't know how you can't see this. There is no debating the fact that the guy is rich.

I love seeing hard working people prosper. You prefer to call them "greedy", unless they're in your herd. Then it's different somehow.

Why don't you define "greed". Let's start there and watch how quickly you unravel.

Ok, so I successfully turned that weak "herd" thinking argument of yours on its ear.

Now I'd really like to find out where your hatred of 'greed' is coming from.

Can you help me out and give me your definition of 'greed'? I'm curious to see just how evil greed really is from your point of view.
