    • Don't think Harper wants to go to the All Star Game

He looks tired and has never played this much Baseball in his life. He has never traveled this much with all the fanfare and obligations that he has now. He probably is dying for three days off. Don't think it will happen though. I hope Davey gives him some days off so he doesn't go through the same 2nd half decline that Espinosa did last year.

All of them wouldn't mind the 3 days off but no one, especially, a first timer would trade the time off for the honor.

No one?? Many guys in many different sports have blown off the All Star game. I feel like its a combination of Bryce not feeling that he has earned it and fatigue.

And by the way he would never say he didn't wanna go to the All Star Game. He would get killed for that. He is too smart to make that statement.

Nats4Tommy is right. He wouldn't/shouldn't say that. I agree that Harper probably doesn't want to go to the all star game this year because he really hasn't earned it. I'm voting for Chipper Jones who has a better batting average and is in the last year of his career.

>>"He has not said anywhere he does not want to go"

Well, no, he would never do that, however:

James Wagner/Nats Journal:

After hearing he was on among the five finalists, Harper was reverent to one notable competitor: Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones, a veteran who is playing well in his final season before retirement.

“It’s an accomplishment, I guess, but you got Chipper up there,” he said. “So, I think a Hall of Famer should be able to go to all-star game his last year. If I was going to make a vote, I’d go vote for Chip.”

Harper has often talked about veteran players and some of the greats he admires such as Mickey Mantle, Pete Rose and George Brett. Given the chance to state his case, Harper did so but not without constantly deferentially stumping for Jones.

“He should have already been in the all-star game no matter what,” he said. “He’s an all-star and has been an all-star for twenty years. I think Chip should be there.”

Asked if he ever thought about making the all-star team this season, Harper acknowledged it crossed his mind: “When my numbers were better, I think so. But I've been struggling a little bit for the past two and half weeks or so.”

I don't pretend to know whether he wants to go or not and I have no sentiment for Jones going simply because he is retiring. The issue for me is that this game means something, home field advantage for the Series. If by some fortune we get there I want it for the Nationals. At this point I believe that a veteran like Jones, with his experience under pressure, gives the National League a better chance to win the game than a talented, but likely awe-struck rookie.

lol If I had my way not one Ranger would be in the all-star game. I'd much rather they take the days off for rest than play in a meaningless game.

For the record, I've been voting on and off all day, I don't think there is a 25 vote limit.

One can also text N3 to 89269 to vote for Bryce.

(Not like I'm obsessed or anything)

I hope he makes it so I can pull out my #34 jersey and eye black for my ASG party.

Jeeze, you guys probably would have won the Series last year if the Americans had won that "meaningless" game.

"No one?? Many guys in many different sports have blown off the All Star game. I feel like its a combination of Bryce not feeling that he has earned it and fatigue."

Please, find us a 19 year old who has blown off being in an all-star game. A lot of veterans in many sports have taken the days off, but I can't remember a rookie in any sport turning down a bid to the all-star game unless he was injured. Funny how we heard about this hot head in the minors who was gonna be a real punk at times, yet we've heard nothing but all the right things out of this kids mouth since he was called up. Yes, Chipper deserves a spot, but the manager of the team had a chance to think of that. I'm sure the list of 19 year olds who have worn a uniform in the locker room at an all-star game is pretty short and I hope Bryce gets the chance. He'll long forget the 3 day rest but not the chance to be on the bench in his first year.
Go Nats

It's time to put nats4tommy on the ignore list, well actually long over due.

His user name was a give away right from the start.

Well stated.

If he looked tired yesterday, it might be because of playing the last three games in 100+ degree heat.
