MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla is recovering from a bullet wound in his leg after a target shooting instructor accidentally shot him.

Dr. Eduardo Reguera said Padilla, who signed with the Dodgers in August, didn't need surgery after spending time at Managua's Metropolitan Hospital.

Police spokesman Vilma Reyes said Wednesday that Padilla's pistol apparently jammed during a target shooting session late Tuesday.

Padilla handed the pistol to a shooting instructor, a former police captain, who didn't realize there was a bullet in the chamber and shot himself in his hand, Padilla's legal adviser Roberto Calderon told The Associated Press. The bullet also grazed Padilla's leg.

I would say he needs a new shooting instructor.

He took one (grazed) in the leg, but that's where the similarity ends, Padilla was at a range (not illegally carrying a concealed weapon into a nightclub), and his shooting instructor, a former police captain, is the one who was holding the weapon when it discharged, he did not shoot himself. My question is: How does a shooting instructor not realize that a weapon has a round in the chamber when it just jammed while it was being used at a range? That should be an automatic first assumption, and it should have been pointed down-range while he was trying to un-jam it.

We should all attend a gun safety seminar before handling a gun.

I've heard that a baseball bat should be held lightly before, but i don't think that should also apply to holding a gun. lol

That second clip should be in the top 10 of the Darwin awards. Even if he survived this time he won't be around much longer.
At least the species needs to end his gene pool asap.

You're in !

Just don't go looking for or asking for any spoons, forks, carrot sticks, celery sticks, or healthy turkey burgers or sausages. Ain't none of that at the scrapple wagon and it might upset my buddies if they sense you drink tooty fruity juices and eat granola bars.

If you bring your "hog and claw attitude", and a pair of goggles you'll be just fine. By the way, after our feeding one of the groundskeepers normally comes over and hoses us down. lol

My only anti-social heating habit is I tend to growl if anyone gets too close to my plate.
Other than that...
