......Okay this... I understand.. that he did okay in AAA. That's.. splendid i guess but this is a major league team. Nick Blackburn can't pitch in the majors without the combined distance of the homers in any given start adding up to 1800 feet or more... so i guess i am not sure how much more they need to see to realize the guy's a bona fide scrub. He cant play.

That's for sure! Except, in my mind, he's lost his place in the starting rotation and should earn it back by working in long relief out of the bullpen. I suppose he's "stretched out" having pitched a complete game in Rochester about 10 days ago but with the likelihood of almost any of our current starters needing relief early in the game, he could still get 5 or 6 innings in by coming out of the bullpen. It got so I could hardly turn on the game if he was starting his last time around. Too bad he has another year-and-a-half on his 4 year, 14 million dollar contract. That's an expensive batting practice pitcher, especially when he's servin' 'em up for the competition.

I'm not sure why, other than having "more MLB experience", Blackburn got called up over Liam Hendriks. I know Hendriks hasn't had much success at all in the majors yet, but you are talking about a MINUTE sample size. Hendriks is absolutely owning AAA and I don't think he has anything left to learn or prove down there. Another 7 IP with only 1 run allowed last night. He didn't get the win last night, because the Red Wings only scored 1 run until the 15th inning. But last night's effort makes his season at AAA 7-0 with a 1.74 ERA and 0.847 WHIP.

Well neither should have been called up. Hendriks' problem is that he doesnt have stuff that fools major league hitters. its too slow and doesn't move enough. Similar situation to what slowey had when he rushed through the minors. minor league hitters for the most part can be gotten with a 90mph fastball if you have adequate stuff for that level. which hendriks has. He doesnt have adequate mlb stuff from what i've seen to consistently get mlb hitters out.

The point is, if I may get "righty" to it, is, that no matter what happens "post-post, post-prediction, or whatever you want to call them, the "targets" of the seemingly always negative, expert, non-real fan posts, are doomed before they get a chance. No matter how they perform, "as predicted by expert poster" or in remarkable fashion, it is "I told you", or "someone else could have done better, or that was just luck, or whatever. Some of us act like the players read these threads religiously, and are just devastated by the constant criticism received! If you don't like the team, pick another one! Nobody is going to miss anyone that does do. But at least, be big enough to applaud a perfoance when due, instead of trying to convince all of your "personal readers" that you are never wrong. Out.
