Plus a vesting option for a 3rd year. Yikes.

Well, that was pretty much his asking price from the beginning. Somebody was going to give it to him.

Looks like Boros has found a new whippin' boy.

Well, that stakes them better, and gives more credence that Jason Werth will win a another WS before the Tigers.

All that said, I'd still rather have Rauch for less than a quarter of the cash. Glad to see Soroino off the table. Washington will be glad they got him, I think.

<<Glad to see Soroino off the table.>>

Me too. Puts an end to the speculation that it would be the Tigers overpaying for him.

They need him more.....maybe.

Nats lost Burnett. They still need a lefty in the pen, but Soriano will surely shore them up some.

They are in a tighter race to win their division. (at least on paper)

LOL.

Enjoy. I'd love the Tigers to find a proven closer before the season starts, but not at that price. Are you kidding me? And people were whining about Sanchez getting as much as he got. LOLOLOL.

Have fun with that one, Washington.

Not a bad deal for either party.
His vesting clause for 2015 is not an easy reach. Rafael must finish a combined 120 games in the next two seasons. He's never finished more than 108 prior.

Do you think they'd trade Tyler Clippard now? 32 saves last year. Pretty lively arm. Wears glasses as I recall. Pitchers who wear glasses have always been good. Name me a pitcher who wore glasses who wasn't good. Fred Gladding was good.

A guy named Jason Powell pitched on my softball team back in the early 80's, and had an ERA of over 17.00...Thats not very good. He blamed it on the glasses. I blamed it on drinkin to much Stroh's before the games.

Great now we can stop all those "Soriano to Detroit" speculations.

I miss the Old Strohs on tap from Detroit. That was the only way I would drink it. When the Brewery closed and went to Pennsylvania, the taste change noticeably.
Went from yum to yuck.

I agree rmsj...The taste DID change considerably, and went to yuk.....When it was brewed in Detroit, there was nothing better than a case of ice cold long kneck Stroh's right out of the cooler on a hot summer day setting on my patio and listen to Ernie...God, those were the days my friend.

My dad grew up in Detroit and was a loyal Stroh's man until they moved, then he quit drinking it on the spot. The local pride was gone.
