I've chosen Mark Fidrych as my current avatar ..his career was cut way too short by injury ..and his life was cut way too short by freak accident.

I have come up with a partial team of players who died too young. Maybe somebody can fill in the rest of the team (3b) and/or upgrade position and bench?

1b Lou Gehrig (ALS)
2b Ken Hubbs (Plane Crash)
3b
SS Ray Chapman (Hit by Pitch)
C Thurman Munson (Plane Crash)
OF Lymon Bostock (Homicide)
OF Ed Delahanty (drowned)
RF Roberto Clemente (Plane Crash)

P Steve Belcher (drugs)
P Don Wilson (poisoning)
P Darryl Kile (heart attack)
P Addie Joss (meningitis)
P Urban Shocker (pneunomia)

MGR Gil Hodges (Heart Attack)

Urban Shocker is my new favorite name.

Here's a Wikipedia list of players who died during their careers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sportspeople_who_died_during_their_careers#Major_League_Baseball

We'll pencil John Dodge in as our current 3b ..and list Donnie Moore in the bullpen.

Is there anybody else to add to the All-Time "Died Too Young" team?

Indeed, Thurman Munson
I think overall, the best catcher I ever saw.

Does a dying Young career count? Because then Deadmon, er, Delmon could be on the roster.

Tony Conigliaro. There was a guy who coulda been one of the all time greats. He was Mike Trout-esque before there was such a thing. I remember that guy. Tragic life story.

Two members of our great '84 team, Dwight Lowry, Lance's backup catcher, and "Señor Smoke" in relief. May they rest in peace.

Tony Conigliario, ..excellent choice.

Had plenty power at a very very young age, ..but not much speed.
