well, we read earlier that Brandon Inge was going to have to earn his way onto the roster, and in leyland's own words that Inge was going to have to hit, to make it.

Raburn is hitting WAY better than Inge, and can play second base, So I think that Leyland owes it to us fans to honor his earlier assurances, and go with the pony that can run. To reneg on his earlier promises and drop second base into Inge's lap, would be weak and gutless.

If he keeps Inge on the roster, it doesn't mean he's giving any job to him full-time. Santiago is going to play a lot of 2nd base. And if he feels it's the right thing to do, it can't be considered weak and gutless.

To me, it's really a decision of does he keep Worth or Inge. I think he'll choose Inge.

>>. I think he'll choose Inge.<<

That's what I'm concerned about, as well. . Inge has done zilch this spring to deserve a slot on the 25 man roster. And yes, backing out of his (Leyland's) earlier posture that inge must earn his spot, and must hit in order to do so, would be weak as well as gutless

This is like arguing over what is a better sandwich... bologna or tuna. Who cares? Neither of them will play much more than a supporting role offensively.

What we need... likely next year... is a real, 3 course, steak dinner for a 2nd baseman.

Its kind of hard to have filet mignons at every position. No team in the majors is without a few bologna sammich's on their roster.

I, for one, am pretty happy with our mix of steaks and bolognas.

I have said this several times as have others, Brandon Inge will not be the reason if the the Tigers win or lose.

Is he (the_undisputd_opinion) b*tching again about the bench players?

Who cares about Kelly, Inge, and Laird?

He thinks Leyland is going to bat them all back to back to back every other day or something.

Its just not going to happen.

Maybe , MAYBE, 1 or 2 times he will run out a mostly reserve lineup, but we have FAR too much offensive talent on this team NOT to play them as much as we can. Our defense is going to be bad, so I would expect that Leyland will try to keep as much offensive firepower in the lineup, while mixing and matching ONE of our bench players a day here and there just to strengthen the defense a bit in a spot he feels there will be a lot of balls hit that day.

Of course. I agree completely. I just couldn't see debating Raburn v. Inge. Is there really a big difference there?

I'm extremely happy with our 24 man roster. There can always be an upgrade here and there, but like you said, no MLB team is perfect top to bottom.

Looking harder should not have to include an X-Ray, CT-Scan plus an MRI though . . . :-)

~~~Sorry man, you left yourself wide open for that one~~~
<<<Raburn is hitting WAY better than Inge, and can play second base, >>>
raburn can play 2nd base like miggy can play 3rd. it isn't an either or deal. besides raburn had a fine spring last season too, right before going ofer april and "playing second" as if he were in a beer league.
