    • OT: Detroit Fans are at it Again...

I read this article and all I could think about were about half-dozen supposed Detroit "fans" on this board.

www.freep.com/article/20091102/SPORTS01/91102080/1354/SPORTS/Lions-Stafford-Hecklers-wont-run-me-out-of-town

Jumping the gun, flopping off the bandwagon, and never willing to give a guy a break.

What happened to class? What happened to taking up arms with your team? What happened to having your teams' back? What happened to old sayings like, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Raiola got it right!

Stafford got it right!

The Detroit "fans" dropped the ball... yet again.

It makes me sick.

What happened to giving the fans their money's worth? What happened to getting to the postseason more than once every 22 years? What happened to a little sobriety and sleep before a game with the season on the line? What happened to Number Three hitters who aren't Clete Thomas? What happened to having more than four winning seasons in two decades? What happened to be being better than eleventh in the league in Runs Scored? What happened to being able to hold on to a big division lead in the final two weeks? What happened to being able to win more than one game out of the last five?

And as for the Lions, if they think the fans don't have the right to boo them, I invite them to check out their record since the beginning of 2008. Or of the last 52 years, in which they've won one playoff game. Or even just to watch the film of yesterday's beauty at home against the formerly winless Rams. If you want to hear some cheers, Raiola, then win some football games.

I don't rip Inge with malice.

I only point out the facts when someone is under the spell of hero worship and calling Inge their "number one Tiger." That is ridiculous. Those people need to be brought back down to Earth.

Am I to take it that you were one of those in the crowd that Raiola admonished?

I will agree on 1 thing.. and this has to do with ME, PERSONALY...... not anybody else on this board..

I have never rip on one of my tigers.. untill phat ar.se
I can see people getting ticked and saying things.. but inge. played hurt almost all season. he gave 150%
phat ar.se got drunk when we needed him the most...

I think we got a good team even the closer was half decent. ( rodney) and that hurts me to say.. but i say it.. I am a tigers fan. i am not a lion fan so i dont know the story there.

inge.. wear the old english D on his sleeve.. what does cabrera wear it? on his cheque book???

most tiger fans here know what they are talking about.. just some say it right off the cuff

So you're saying Raiola and Stafford are in the wrong?

I'm siding with them. Stafford has played, what, 4 games on the pro level and fans are already getting on his case.

No way. You're wrong on this one. You and everyone that is critical of a pro athlete this young into his career.

Now, are you seriously telling me you side with those fans harassing Stafford? What if he was your son or brother? Or what if you were him?

Seriously.

Actually, you are partially right and partially wrong.

True, it is too early to boo Stafford. However, if someone wanted to boo Raiola, Jansen or Backus - or any of the pass-dropping receivers - or the lameass defense, I have NO PROBLEM WITH THAT.

The offensive line is the worst I have ever seen. There is a reason that Jansen was released. Backus is the WORST OLman in the history of the NFL. Raiola folds like an envelope. He cries that he 'seen it before with Harrington.' I say the same thing, only I infer that I see another QB running for his life.

The real problem is WC Ford. HE is the one that needed a DL and an OL and some defense - yet drafted Stafford, only hoping to fill the stands and sell jerseys off of one guy - a la Barry Sanders.

Picking up a guy like Stafford and then protecting him with that line is akin to living in a mobile home park, having no garage and buying a TechArt Porsche 911 GT2 and parking it on the street.

Common sense says BOO everyone on the Lions, sans Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith and Ernie Sims. They deserve every BOO they get.

Or, better yet, don't watch and don't go to the game. The best way to show displeasure is with your feet.

No, you can point out facts of why Inge is bad, but when we say something like Magglio is underachieving or Guillen underachieves, it's a cardinal sin and we aren't fans.

It is garbage.

Well, I'm not a "booer" if I am allowed to use that word. I think it's classless. But anyway, the insults were aimed at Stafford and that is what set Raiola off. He was correct to get pizzed and the fans were out of line. Give the guy a year to settle in. Not everyone can be Ryan from Atlanta.

What I say about Inge is accurate because I'm talking about career numbers.

What posters around here said about Maggs was not accurate... it was short sighted. They were saying he was washed up. Boy were they wrong. He finished the season at .310 and became the first Tiger in more than 50 years to hit over .300 in 3 consecutive seasons. Everyone that wrote the guy off should start a thread apologizing for their lack of vision.

Guillen was injured most of the year and still came back like a trooper to help his team down the stretch. He wasn't totally healthy. He hit homers from both sides of the plate in one game putting him in some elite company. Guillen has a good track record and deserves more respect than he's getting.

Again, I like Inge and I'm glad we have him. We need role players and he's a good defender that doesn't cost 15 million per year. Again, what I disagree with are those posters that idolize him. He's not worthy of that.

It's not garbage. It's the truth.

Stafford and the rest of the Lions just need to shut the fluck up and [try] to play football.

All Ford Field needs to do is get that great sign that says, "Make Noise."

It's the only way to get Detroit fans to cheer.

I think Booing is idiotic.

I hate football.

Blah blah blah about Guillen. Injured or not, it is a FACT he cannot field ANY spot on the field. Second, he gets what he deserves. He's been on the decline and your "down the stretch" comment is bogus since he hit .222 in September and October. Not what I call a clutch guy. So your facts are definitely flawed as is your logic.

And he's definitely not in elite company the way the steroid era has gone.
