I hope Leyland is watching A real Baseball team playing in the series. The tigers if they planned right could be there. Tigers need to quit giving out long term contracts to Bums..

They exceeded all expectations in '09.

Not my expectations!!!
I had the Tigers down for 88-74. I thought they underachieved in September.

But if someone told you back in spring training that the Tigers would
be playing for first place on the last day of the season would you have
been happy?

But we can be there a little more often if the odiots of front would trade for better players then Huff and Washoutburn....And quit signing unproven players to long term contracts..

I'd have been happy coming into the season to be told we'd be playing for first place on the last day of the season. Many of us here, including many posting currently in this thread had a much more grim prediction for how the season would play out.

...and I am happy for this season even with its outcome.

For me personally...I was deployed to the middle of nowhere in the summer of '08, and all I had was this board and Detroit Tiger's baseball to get through it....needless to say, it was horrible watching meaningless game after meaningless game over the second half of the season when after we got Cabrera we were supposed to win things walking away.

This season, with no expectation attached, every night, I got some exciting baseball, even on some of the nights we lost, because the games meant something, I loved having a reason to still care about the baseball season beyond Labor Day, much less Memorial Day.

Yes I still want to win, maybe I just think differently than some, but for me, even though we lost it on the last day of the season, this was a good year collapse and all. It just wasn't the best year it could have possibly been, that's all, but in my mind, just because it wasn't as good as it could have possibly been, doesn't necessarily mean it was all a wash either...to me, it is where we go from here that matters, not where we've been....I can't wait to see what that destination is.

i thought we could have won this division . at the start of the season.. and many told me i was off my rocker.. we got no good arms and we getting older every day.
but i still said it..
i never thought porcello would be as good as he was.. and this off season.. i hope he does not even look at a ball, this off season
i knew verlander would come back.. but never thought he would be that good

i know we can win this division next year.. if we can land a out fielder that can hit.. so we can move maggs to the dh spot..
getting huff.. well that was a mistake.. and washburn.. that was a huge mistake.. but it cost us nothing.

lets see if the front office will get us a second baseman. or do we roll the dice on sizemore

I only get season-happy or sad when the six month marathon ends. Being in first place entering the last game only matters when the season ends and the final standings are compiled.

There are no awards for sole possession of first place after 161 games. There are no awards for tying the AL Central after 162 games. So No!!! -- I'm not happy until the Fat Lady Sings -- which She failed to do.

So let me repeat -- The Tigers underachieved in my book!

Yes... one for each season past.

Knowledgeable posters that partake in messageboards take notes during the season -- to avoid massive mistakes in their non stats-related opinions Obviously you drive right past places like Staples / Office Max..etc... and do a poor job relying on memory of individual games played by the Tigers during 2009.

You know something six-hopper!! you are not even worth replying to anymore. In the future, I will just pass on your question-related replies -- unless I read a belittlement from you. There are posters on the board that deserve the time I once had reserved for you.
