Ok this is probably my first serious topic. At my job (not saying where, lets just say its a superstore), ive meet 4 tigers!! Justin Verlander, Jeremy Bonderman, Chad Durbin, and just last week while he was not in Baltimore, Carlos Guillen. Verlander was a stuck up @ss who when i asked if he was Verlander he said yes and proceeded to look at magazines while i finished ringing up his purchases and never said another word. Durbin and Bonderman were nice. Guillen caught me when i worked in electronics and asked me to get some games for him. No joke, he bought 900 dollars worth of Wii and Nintendo DS games.
So has anyone else met any Tigers? If so, share what u thought of them and where u met them.

I have meet in person some of the Old Detroit Tigers of 1984 and 1968. They were Micky Stanley, Don Wert, Willie Horton, Jim Price and Norman Cash (Stormin') all from 1968. In 1984 Dan Petry and Gibson were the only ones I have met. Dan Petry coached a little league team that had his son on it and came to our Madison Heights tournament play where I was the treasurer of the league at that time. Mickey Stanley I actually met at Versatube Corporation in Troy, Michigan where I was a die setter leader (of course this is after his retirement). I will never forget I was setting a die up in the press when my Dad came out of the office and walking beside him was Micky Stanley. I knew right away it was him. I even got an autograph from him on a baseball that I had in the car, which I retrieved quickly. That's about it though...so thanks for bringing the memories back to me.

I will have to be disqualified from this post, as I would be cheating since I was a sports reporter and beat writer from 1998-2007 and met most every Tiger in that era.....
good post though author.....

I don't know if it's considered meeting but when the Tigers came to Philadelphia last year I talked a little with Jason Grilli and Mike Maroth before the game. Unfortunately I couldnt meet Polanco. I also talked a bit with Chad Durbin before a phillies game this year.

My grandfather lived up in Lewiston, MI
I am not sure if they still do, but back in the 80's, alot of the Tigers then went to Lewiston to
do their hunting and golfing (Garland Golf Course is very nice!). Me and my grandpa went bowling one night and who do I see bowling a few lanes down? Milt Wilcox, Dan Petry, Kirk Gibson, and Dave Rozema.

I forgot the road that Garland was on... but my grandpa lived 5 miles or so from there on the same road going towards Lewiston. I been to Higgins Lake, Pickeral Lake, and a couple lakes I don't remember the name of.

I remember Al Kaline talking about Lewiston alot when he was a TV announcer.

I have met Granderson a couple times after a Tigers/Indians game at the jake. He is probably one of the nicest guys, and back in 06 me and my buddys met C-Mo as well and he was a nice guy. The one guy I do remember meeting a few years back was gibson and we all know he is known as Kirk the Jerk. Deff lived up to that name. The guys i met at tigerfest this past year all seemed pretty nice...guillen, thames, renteria, and unfortunately jaque jones.

Talking about Al Kaline, I actually did get a chance to meet him before and he was a nice guy.

I used to know this person that owned a car repair shop and Gibson brought his car in to get his breaks done.

Gibson: You know who I am right?
Friend: Yes, good to meet you!
Gibson: So you are going to do my brakes for free now that you know right?
Friend: no

I had a similar encounter with Milt wilcox and dave rosema? They where going to help out our High school baseball team raise some money in a golf outing. They were going to give us two jersey and a bat and a ball signed for an auction and meet the golfers at the first tee. They knew a friend of a guy on the team. We call them the night before and they both said for sure they would be there and the morning of they never showed up, called or answer their phone. Needless to say we did not raise any money for the team and spent another season using outdated equipment

I'm not surprised about the Gibson story, I've heard other stories about him being a jerk to people.

I've met Guillen and Jones, also met Rondell White when he played for the Tigers.

I've met more Lions then Tigers, I've even helped Scott Mitchell with his golf swing!
