1)Dejesus LF--seems to work the best at the very top of the order
2)Aviles SS
3)Butler 1b
4)Guillen RF-------I still support the idea of Milton Bradley though
5)Callaspo DH
6)Gordon 3b-------Fields would be a great platoon against the tough lefties
7)Pena C
8)Crisp CF-------redo his contract and extend him
9)Getz 2b

Then on the bench

Bloomy---Good guy because he can play all outfield positions and most of the infield positions

Fields---Gives a much need right handed power bat and can spell guys at 3b, 1b and DH

FA Catcher--I wouldn't mind if the Royals kept Olivo and made Pena the backup but i think Pena given the chance could do some of the same stuff as Miguel and financially it would make more sense bringing in a backup on the cheap

Yuni--Great insurance off the bench if Aviles or Getz get hurt or struggle

You could easily also flop Getz and Aviles in the lineup aswell

cody's
1)Dejesus LF--seems to work the best at the very top of the order
2)Aviles SS --
3)Butler 1b
4)Guillen RF-------I still support the idea of Milton Bradley though
5)Callaspo DH
6)Gordon 3b-------Fields would be a great platoon against the tough lefties
7)Pena C
8)Crisp CF-------redo his contract and extend him
9)Getz 2b

mine
1)Dejesus LF- agreed, if coco or anyone else is here hillman should be canned.
2)Crisp CF - get him back cheap and get Maier outta here! Good history as #2 guy, TREY!
3)Butler 1b - Staple for years, somewhere anyway
4)Free Agent/Jose Guillen DH - Gotta have some pop.
5)Callaspo 3B - Hit well last year. D good enough for the corner.
6)Pena C - Olivo leaves, Buck bench. Pena OBP .370 or higher.
7)Gordon, Fields, Guillen - whoever ends up hitting.
8)Bettancort SS - Aviles won't be ready, ever. Hopefully we make another trade here.
9)Getz 2B - Better be a gold glover and steal 35 bases.

Hopefully both me and Cody are wrong. Hopefully the only guys in this line up on opening day are DDJ and Butler... maybe Crisp and Callaspo.

If used correctly Gordon (BIG IF Hillman using him or anybody for that matter correctly) and Fields platooned correctly could give the Royals a lethal combo at third

1 thing I have been hugely critical of with Buddy Bell and Hillman they are terrible at ... picking their spots, taking advantage of hitters strenghs and platooning correctly.

Why would you of all people what to platoon the "franchise",we need Alex to have the breakout year you keep talking about against all pitchers.

The Royals Clubhouse DOES NOT need Milton Bradley in it. Guillen is bad enough. Everywhere Bradley has been has been trouble.

with the current roster

v. RHP
1) DeJesus LF
2) Callaspo RF
3) Butler 1B
4) Guillen DH
5) Gordon 3B
6) Pena C
7) Getz 2B
8) Anderson CF
9) Betancourt SS

v. LHP
1) DeJesus LF
2) Callaspo 2B
3) Butler 1B
4) Guillen DH
5) Fields 3B
6) Pena C
7) Bloomquist RF
8) Anderson CF
9) Betancourt SS

but this team should sign a catcher, dump Buck, and they should get a credible Centerfielder.

Hillman will not platoon, so we're gonna see a lot of lineups vs. LHP with Getz and Gordon instead of Fields and Callaspo.

"I think Pena if given the chance can do some of the same stuff as Miguel"

Like what, not catch? There is no way he has 2 passed balls on one pitch....That's "The 50 Greatest" stuff.

Cody, when you're standing naked, in your closet, clutching an autographed glossy 8X10 of Alex, do us a favor, and kick the chair out from under yourself....

Is Xavier Nady worth a look this offseason?

He is going to be one of the only outfielders out there that will be worth anything. He's definitely worth a look, but be cautious with him... he is coming off of injuries.

Ok, if Dayton really wants to build for the future, here is my line-up, with who we currently have:

Getz 2B
DeJesus LF
Butler DH
Guillen RF
Gordon 1B
Callaspo 3B
Pena/Buck C
Maier CF
Betencourt SS

It sounds like DM intends to do more shuffling, however. My 25-man roster would not include Jacobs or Fields. We need to cut down hugely on team strikeouts. Teahen, Jacobs and Olivo totaled 381 last year. Josh Fields strikeout ratios are even worse.

Yeah....I don't see why not, as long as the price is right....I'm all for the low risk, high reward type guy's.I think DM needs to find a catcher who is solid behind the plate to go along with Pena, a left handed starter and some solid middle to late relief at the least....I don't know if we will be in the running for someone like Nady, at market value anyway....A "better" team will probably take a chance on him.And face it, how much more would we have to offer for him to come here?I'm not saying he would be anything like Jose, but, we don't need anymore of those kind of deal's....
