With today's trade I think more questions have arisen than answers.

Is Field's our new 3B?
What to do with Callaspo?
What to do with Gordon?
Can Guillen last in the OF?

Personally I believe the Royals picked up Getz to be our 2B for now and of the future. I believe Callaspo will be used to find a big time reliever or above average OF. I can see Callaspo for Hermida (Marlins) being a very viable option considering the Marlins are losing Uggla. Another thing to look at would be trading Callaspo for a potential closer and here is why.

White Sox/Royals

Send:Soria
Recieve: Beckham, Danks, and PTBNL

Phillies/Royals

Send: Soria
Recieve: Happ, M. Taylor, Kendrick

Now I'm just throwing ideas out their, I obviously have no clue what the market is for Soria. I just know that the White Sox and Phillies need closers and besides Mo and Nathan, Soria is about as consistent as they come.

In addition I'd like to mention what a great man Mark Teahen is and even though he'll be wearing B&W I'll still cheer him on when he's not playing the Royals of course.

I see no way the Sox would give up Beckam AND Danks for Soria - let alone an additional player. I see no way the Phillies give up Happ for Soria - let alone additional players. I love Soria - but you may be placing a bit too much value on him.

Looks like the first thing is to make sure this deal goes thru.

I don't think Fields is the new 3B. I think that is still Gordons job. From what I've read - Fields is not any good defensively.

I would try to trade Callaspo. If I can't get enough for him - I DH him and Guillen, and let him back up 2B/Short.

The Royals will be better off with Fields than Teahen because he can be a true platoon with Alex. Teahen and Alex were too much alike in the fact they both were left handed hitters who sturggled mightly against lefty's.

Alex kills righties than you can have fields hit against lefties and protect Alex a little bit. Also they might foreshadow a move to Alex to 1st in 2011 and Billy being the long term DH and Alex 1b. Just gives the Royals a lot more options if they pick their spots betters

Um, yeah. A starter for a closer? I can't see that happening any time soon.

You're right on the money with this, though. We may view Soria as some kind of god-like figure because we haven't had a MLB quality closer in such a long time, but the simple fact remains that closers really don't draw much on the market. Even the big ones are more valuable to their own team than anything they'd bring in return.

LOL. Your probably right, Soria looks like a MLB God compared to the rest of this lineup. If we do trade Soria, I sure hope we get some talent for him.

Hermida to the Red Sox. What a surprise, now he'll go and hit 30 HR and drive in 90 Runs. The rich get richer in my opinion.

Well, if they break the checkbook out for the Teahen deal, they might as well keep it out for Guillen and Jacobs, and get them bus tickets too...For who, to who?I don't know....Any idea's

IMO, RF and Catcher are the biggest holes that DM may be willing to look at....Remember defense and fundamentals are of utmost importance to DM...

the reports seem to suggest that fields isn't very good with the glove, so i think the chances of him being the one to move to 1B - as opposed to gordon - are much better.

Probably should wait and see if he can make the big club...Heck maybe we should shop Alex Gordon...Consider him a bust, and see what we can get before he get's to expensive for us or someone else...Didn't we pick-up a no-glove, no-hit 1B last year?Billy is still cheap...He doesn't play good enough for the pay?

innings is probably speechless over the Teahen trade.

And cow? Crabbing about today's trade is like shooting fish in a barrel for him, so he's probably taking the day off to let us amateurs b*tch and complain in his stead. :)
