Of the active roster avaiable online if I had to take 25 guys from it, this would be who I would take. Realizing you can't ditch the whole team and sign a new one below I put what I would do with the 25 listed below.
Pitchers
1. John Bale - Release - Injured too much. Gotta be something better out there.
2. Brian Bannister - Keep - only if no better options pop up.
3. Juan Cruz - Keep - Signed and hopefully had a down year.
4. Kyle Davies - Send down - Only call up for help due to injury.
5. Kyle Farnsworth - Keep - Signed, hard to trade and good enough for mop up.
6. Zack Grienke - Keep.
7. Luke Hochevar - Keep - Currently a bust, but gets one more year.
8. Gil Meche - Trade - Injuries mounting. Signed 2 more years might have value.
9. Joakim Soria - Keep. Trading a Riveresque close is stupid.
10. Robinson Tejada - Keep. Give every chance to start after last year.
11. Jaime Wright - Keep. Good enough middle man.
Catchers
12. John Buck - Trade or cut in spring training.
13. Miguel Olivo - Keep. Give 2 yr contract until youngster comes up.
14. Brayan Pena - Keep. Young(er) cheap. When one's not catching the other DH's
Infield
15. Yuniensky Betancourt - Keep. Hit .274 and .260 in Aug. and Sept.
16. Willie Bloomquist - Keep. Fills in everywhere.
17. Billy Butler - Keep. The real deal, starpower.
18. Alberto Callaspo - Keep. Hits well enough to be an average 2B.
19. Alex Gordon - Trade or Send down. Bust.
20. Mark Teahen - Keep. Another super Utility and sometimes starter. Well shoot just got traded, but oh well.
Outfield
21. David DeJesus - Keep. Rough 1st half and rebounded to solid self.
22. Josh Anderson - Keep. Speed kills and he kinda hits.
23. Coco Crisp - Keep. Only if he renegotiates. Vet, leader.
24. Jose Guillen - Keep. Only because we have too. Move to full time DH.
25. Mitch Maier - Impartial - Bench ONLY. Good D and Arm. Not good enough to start.
I have 5 players being traded, released, or sent down. That's not unrealistic and 2 of those could be replaced with solid plus free agents. 2 marginal free agents. And 1 minor league surprise or rule 5.
