Thank you for the years, but trust me, you will be booed...in Chicago. You were an asset to the community, kind of an anti-Larry Johnson. However, the expectations are very different in Chicago and I don't see you having Dye numbers.

But again, thanks for all of the hard work, lack of complaints, and willingness to move around for the team.

I cannot believe this!!! I was all for trading Teahen, but not to the GD White Sox!!!!!!!!!! We got a pretty nice package for him though. A very solid 2B and a 3B with a ton of potential!

I have to hand it to GMDM on this one. More than likely Teahen was going to be nontendered anyway. GMDM actually got something in return. This is a very interesting move. Looks like there might be some more to come.

Royalmania, amen to the "GD" White Sox comment. They are tied at the top of my list of disliked teams.

As for the rest of the trade, I understand the Getz move, particularly if you move Callaspo to 3rd or trade him. On the other hand, where does Josh Fields fit in?

I think it's just depth. He might start the year in AAA, but I guess we'll see. He can play the outfield too.

It would seem that Callaspo is now on the block. This also puts the Royals in need of an outfielder.

I did not expect any moves until the winter meetings.

Im pretty excited about Getz. I looked on the ChiSox forum and most are pretty upset they let him go so young. But, most are happy they got Teahen too. As of now it looks to be a strong trade for both teams. Here's to a fun winter (I hope)

I'm a Sox fan and I'm happy we got Teahen. He's no Jermaine Dye but he a flexible type player like Mark DeRosa. The reason Fields was part of the trade is because he was out of minor league options. So instead of losing him for nothing we got something in return. I wish Fields/Getz the best with you guys. Now we have a hole to fill in the infield. I guess Figgins will be our #1 target in FA. He could play 2B or 3B (moving Beckham to SS and Ramirez to 2B OR Beckham to 2B).

Looks like Callaspo is gone. Now the question is where do we put Gordon if Fields is a 3B?

There is still nothing about this on the Star or the Royals page. I am starting to wonder if it is a done deal or not. This is the only link I have seen:

Inningsago ain't gonna like this. I hope he is okay. I don't think he has been here for a while.

Getz is a light hitting Tony Graffinino (not sure about his defense but i'm guessing he's no wizard).

Fields is a major flop to this point. He got some ROY votes in 07, but has been terrible since. His .301 OBP this year puts him just ahead of Jacobs in that category. DM has not learned, but I never really expected him to.

I would have been fine trading Teahen, no one not named Grienke is untouchable on this squad. But, he's one of the few players who actually have value on this team. There is value in a guy who can play a little below average at so many positions on a team which has so many holes.

Boy I don't know. It seems there could be more deals coming. More then I thought there would be anyway.

"Thank you for the years, but trust me, you will be booed...in Chicago."

What are you talking about? The city of broad shoulders falls in absolute love with guys like Teahen. Just look at the crazy love Cubs fans had for Mark DeRosa who is just slightly better at being Teahen than Teahen.

I hope Callaspo isn't totally gone. He's got some offensive pop. Sounds to me more like Gordon is gone. If Getz is a good defensive 2B, he's got the job there. It sounds like they're hoping Fields returns to his '07 form, or they'll release him or keep him on the bench since he's out of options. And if all else fails Callaspo will be 3B. It also sounds like unless Gordon hits .500 in spring training that he's going to be career minor leaguer.

Well, Dutton has an article in the star.

Teahen just gave an interview on 810 indicating that he had no contact or information regarding the trade other than the article and related rumors. However, he also stated that lack of contact until the deal was done is the norm.

If 810 posts the interview on its website, it is a good listen as he remains a professional throughout it.

But all the article says is the same as what Rotoworld said - that the NY POst is reporting it. No one in KC or Chicago has confirmed, and Teahen hadn't heard anything. It's possible that the NY Post writer got it wrong. I know people don't like ESPN much, but if Buster Olney says its not a deal and this guy from the NY Post says it is, I think Olney has a t least as much of a chance of being correct. Maybe DM is floating it to see if he can get the Red Sox, who Olney says are also interested, to up their offer?

The more I look at it, the less I like it. Fields looks identical to Gordon with a tinge more pop. He strikes out bunches like Gordon, so that makes zero sense. I don't like Getz's OBP, power, or AVG. His stolen bases are nice but only if his OBP were high(er). I think Callaspo's offensive output Trumps his defensive shortcomings enough to justify his spot on the team. In fact I thought Callaspo's D was getting better as the season progressed.
