It is officially the offseason and boredom has left me with ample time to think about some of the trades that the Rockies could make to shore up some weaknesses this season.

Ok, admittedly this is more of my far-fetched hope that we could get Halladay:

Halladay (SP) – His salary is 15.75 Mil and even if Atkins, Hawpe and Marquis are gone with player raises and new contracts it would still raise the payroll a bit. The Monforts, though, have shown a willingness to put in a little more money if the climate is right. During deadline trade talks no one was allowed to talk extensions with Halladay but I think that if we put a trade together that negotiating an extension would be a cornerstone of this trade. My extension estimate 4-5 years $18-20 Mil a year.

Hill (2B) – He is in the middle of a 4 year 12 Mil contract and its pretty reasonable for him. With speed in the outfield a big right-handed bat wouldn’t be unwelcome at 2B. At 27 he is definitely showing off his power potential. His fielding dropped off a little this year but it had been pretty solid over the last few years.

For:

De La Rosa – I think the Blue Jays still want to try to win but with salary being devoted elsewhere a fairly inexpensive and talented MLB pitcher would be a great enticement to the Jays. He has great stuff but I don’t think his value will be higher than it was this year. I still don’t see him every being more than a mid to bottom of the rotation guy even though he has the potential to be more.

Chacin – We would have to give up one of our major pitching prospects and I think that the Jays would want him.

Barmes – They would of course need a replacement 2B.

Hawpe – They have used their left-fielder Lind at DH but he is pretty good in the field, and they could use another LH bat in the line-up and Hawpe can be used at DH.

Torrealba – The Jays have need of another catcher on their roster to spell Barajas and that’s even if they retain him due to Free Agency. This would have to be done within the next five days before the decision to exercise his option has to be made.

To get the Halladay deal done another prospect might have to be thrown in maybe Deduno or something like that.

I think this would be fairly realistic though a stretch, I really just wanted to create a thread to talk about potential moves, trades and FA signings everyone would like to see. It is always fun to daydream about creative things that the team will do in the offseason even if our team doesn't need a whole lot of work this year.

I don't mind thinking about everything else, but de la Rosa is ready for even bigger years.

If it's true Toronto said no to that package, there is no way Toronto even considers your offer. For any offer to be considered legit we would have to build something around a combination of Chacin, Gomez, Weathers, and maybe even Matzek. At that point it might not be worth it, but hey thats why the offseason is fun to talk about this stuff.

Dream on, they want way to much for him. He will end up going to the Yankees, Red Sox or some other team that will have to give up there depth and future, I don't think it is worth it.
