Not sure how anyone else feels but I have no one to cheer for in this World Series. No team from the west, no underdog, these two teams are the type that you hate or love and I frankly can't stand either one. Having said all that, as a baseball fan, I will still be watching very closely because it is a very intriguing matchup. The defending champs (Philly) against the dominating team of '09 (Yanks).

At the forefront of my attention will be whether or not the Phillies can avoid the mistakes that both the Angels and Twins made agains the Yankees. If they can play solid baseball with no blunders I think they have a very good chance to defend their championship.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I was really, really hoping the Angels would take the ALCS, cause other wise it would turn out. . . you know. . . how it is. Ugh. I have no one to root for, either, but I guess if I reeeeeally think about it, I hate the Phillies just a tad less than the Yanks. Just a tad, I said! But eh. . . I'm not gonna bother watching all that closely.

Sigh. . . I miss Rockies baseball. :0/

I'm watching because, after, all it is the World Series. And I, too, miss the Rockies. (Sniff, sniff)

Thinking about going to spring training in Tucson. Ever been?

I'm pulling for the Yanks since the Phillies won last season and seem to be in the habit of buying up talent. Take away Ibanez and Lee and they aren't near so tough. If I'm gonna root for a big money team it'll be the Yankees.

So far it is looking like the Rockies played the Phillies the best in the post season. I could easily see the Yankees going down 0-2 after tonight.

Yup. I had that very same thought last night, harv!

I noted after the Rox got knocked out that there was really no one else in the playoffs left to pull for. I'll cheer for the Dodgers the day Satan plays hockey on home ice. The other 3 were almost equally distasteful. That said, I would like to see Philadelphia embarrass the Yankees. Then at least the Rox have the bragging rights of being the only team to put up a good fight against them.

My wife and I are strongly considering a trip down to spring training this year, and we are debating a couple of possibilities for our annual road trip this summer.

Right now we are leaning toward seeing the Rox play in KC in May, then we'd head over and see the Cardinals play in their new stadium. The other options are seeing them play in SF in early June and we could also see a game across the bay in Oakland. The third possibility is catching the Rox against the Twins at their new stadium. We still have a few months to decide.

The yankees have bought 26 ws titles, that is ridiculous I hate the yankees there overpaid and over rate, I was hoping for the angels to beat the yankees and the philies to beat the dodgers, I would have rather gotten a ws with no yankees,
in other news the yankees just got another call in their favor, chase utly was safe on that "dp". These umps are awful, they also mised another dp play in philies favor, the ball droped, come on umps this is the ws you have to get the calls right.

lighten up, friends! :)
at least there's still SOME baseball on. i really hate thinking about the offseason.
i personally love the yankees. not nearly as much as the rockies--they're my first love and will always have first place for me. but the yankees are second. i majorly prefer the way the rockies produce their talent, by growing it through the farm system, rather than buying and trading for all the big names.
but ya gotta admit, since the yankees do have a lot of big names, they're a really dynamic team that i think is a blast to watch.
plus derek jeter is the classiest guy in baseball.
i'm really starting to hate the phillies. the only ones i can genuinely say i like are ibanez, lee, and utley (and even he's tainted in my mind after the foul off his knee in game 4 here). i can't stand jimmy rollins and his predictions, ryan howard and shane victorino are arrogant, and jayson werth just disgusts me.
the series has fascinated me so far--i really think it's a classic matchup. the dynasty and the almost dynasty. two of baseball's oldest and most traditional teams.
as for our boys...i've already printed out next year's schedule and am also looking into going to spring training :) (someone already asked this, but does anyone have any suggestions or tips for s.t.? like best places to stay, get up close and personal with the players, etc?)
i'm thrilled for the future of our franchise...there are good times ahead fellow rox fans!

I'd be the clasiest guy in baseball too if I got $28,000,000 a year that is ridiculous, no one is worth that much money. It makes me sick. I hate the Yankees. Go Philies

"The yankees have bought 26 ws titles, that is ridiculous..."

At present I find myself in the most uncomfortable situation I have ever encountered on this board; to wit, I am about to stand fiercely in defense of the Yankees, I team I don't particularly like. No...it is NOT ridiculous that the Yankees have bought 26 W.S. titles (a point that to some extent is exaggerated). What would be ridiculous would be if the Yankees had NOT expended their considerable resources toward consistantly fielding the best team they possibly could. Frankly, they owe that both to their fans and the game itself. Would you rather that their owners simply pocket that money for their own luxury and comforts?

Argue if you wish that the system should be revised in such a way that the playing field is more equitable for all franchises. Propose an actual, workable system where that dream can come about that would actually be agreeable to both the owners and players and every baseball fan in the country will sign a petition to get your likeness blasted into Mt. Rushmore alongside those great Presidents. Hate and envy the Yankees for their enormous success as most of us do; but ultimately we can not malign them and their front office for doing what they should do. THAT is ridiculous.

no no no i don't think you understand.
it has nothing to do with the money.
he's just a really nice, likeable, standup guy. he just won the clemente award, for heaven's sake!
we've got a lot of guys like that on our team. that's the #1 thing that will make me a fan--if the player is classy. players that are arrogant, or play for themselves and not the team are the biggest turnoff. that's why i can't stand the red sox, dodgers, or phillies. too many outspoken, arrogant, full-of-themselves players and fans.

For what it is worth, when the Yanks made one of their interleague visits to Denver, I think it was in 2002 or thereabouts, I saw Jeter chatting amiably with fans and signing autographs at one of the Starbucks on 16th Street Mall. I agree with your assessment that he is a pretty classy and fan friendly guy.

"he just won the clemente award, for heaven's sake!"
Thats because he plays for the Yankees if he played with the Rockies he wouldn't have won the award. East coast bias media
