. Power, Average and the ability to play OF and 1B. Bailey, Nava, Kalish, Doubront? Probably too much
Too Much?? Thats the understatement of the century.
Take baily and Dubraunt out and you might have something. (Colvin IS NOT anyone that we HAVE TO HAVE AT ALL COSTS)
Yes that original proposal was probably too much. Just saying what are the options if Napoli does show symptoms of AVN and is out? Right now it's a bunch of hitters with little or no power: Sweeney, Nava and Overbay. We are hoping Middlebrooks and Papi will show the power along with Gomes. The most consistent is Papi but he's still not at 100%. With Middlebrooks wrist injuries can be tricky (see Nomar). The team needs another power bat and Colvin still could be that person. Yes I understand his splits are not spectacular but I don't think the Sox would have to give up the farm for him. Perhaps the Rockies wouldn't give him up. But they do need pitching and the Sox do have some good relievers to dangle. Morales? Here are his stats:
AB HR AVG RBI R SB420 18 .290 72 62 7 and an .858 OPS.
Once again he plays OF and 1B.
