Ok we usually have one big thread for goings on around the league, and with the Red Sox. So here we go.

So far, we've had:

Aki Iwamura to the Pirates for Jesse Chavez.

Jeremy Hermida to the Red Sox for Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez

JJ Hardy to the Twins for Carlos Gomez

re: "JJ Hardy to the Twins for Carlos Gomez"

What does this mean for Orlando Cabrera?

Not that I want him back, but there will be 3 dozen replies from others wanting him.

Is he a FA now or still on Twins roster?

Braves are resigning Tim Hudson for 3 years * 9M.

Hudson did have a $12M option for next year, but gave the Braves a hometown discount.

So the question now is, who is the odd man out (tradeable) in the Braves rotation?

Jurrjens and Hanson are untouchable.

Vasquez (15-10, 2.87 238 Ks, $11.5M), Kawakami (7-12, 3.86) and Lowe (15-10, 4.67, $15M & 3 more years), one of which is presumably available.

I think Vazquez would be a great pickup, #3 or #4 type starter for us. Think he was 2nd in the NL last year in K's. 219 IP'd last year, 200+ every year (except 198 in 2004) since 2000.

I would love to have Vazquez. I think he could be a really good #3 or 4 for us.

Im guessing they'd prefer to move Lowe, but Vasquez would the easiest one for them to trade. Hes very underrated by a lot of people

Vasquez would probably be a number one or two for the Red Sox. He's that good. Beckett has slipped. Don't be surprised to see him traded by deadline, if he doesn't start quickly in the spring.

Ummmmm No, No and No.
Vasquez is a number 1 or 2 in the NL. In the AL he is probably a number 3.
Beckett has slipped? I didn't realize he went 10-16 last year with a 4.50 ERA. You have to be insane to think they are going to trade Beckett by the deadline. That is the funniest thing I have herd in a while...just not as funny as drewhomer's crystal ball.

I'm tired of hearing the difference between the NL and AL. You need to take down your vintage
'75 antenna off the roof and get yourself some cable or sattelite. I think you can watch some of those Atlanta big stations and see that Vasquez is a horse. I'd take him right now for Beckett straight up. Beckett is a great pitcher, but he doesn't give you 100% every game. He's like a whiner with all his aches and pains. If he spent more time working his body and doing his cardio,
rather than hunting on his Texas preserve, he'd be a better pitcher. When you look at Vasquez, it's obvious the guy keeps his body in shape. He's a specimen. We'll see about Beckett. His contract year is coming up. Will he come to camp in best shape of his life, or is he still living on 2007? As
far as I am concerned, he's been a disappointment since 2008.

Thanks for starting this. I usually read the baseball notes on Boston.com, but since they changed the look of their online pages, no one can find anything easily. I have been missing these reports.

I am all for keeping up with this thread!
