Today on ESPN in New York, John Heyman reported that the Sox will be targeting Doc this off season. He also said Bay might be going to Seattle. Any thoughts?

Well Tito gave a hefty offer that was turned down at the deadline. I know its different managment, but do they want to trade Doc like Riccardi did?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bay goes to Seattle

I love how those sports heads just throw out anything they think.

Its possible, but I don't think they need him. Unless the Sox have plans after next season to lose someone.

If they were to get Halladay, I would hope they'd already have a deal in place for an extention

He's worth less now.

I have heard Seattle is the most likely place for Bay if Boston doesn't sign him.

As for Halladay, they better have a deal and not just trade him for 1 year. Interesting as JP may be working for the Sox this year.

Yeah, they would need that. Halladay is a 4 year deal.

Lots of what the Sox do with the big contracts is to look at what the team will be like with these players 2 or 3 years in.

They were actually talking Yankees Damon and Met's Holliday. Lackey was brought up as a good fit for the Mets even though Heyman said they are not interested. As an aside, Fransesca said they should go after Doc. Heyman said that they would not go after him but that the Sox were targeting him, not Felix, who will be staying in Seattle.

So you mean extend him for 4 more years, or have him for total of 4, meaning a 3 year deal?

I would think so, but maybe not. Depends what they give up.

While I would agree that offense is more of a need, guess what?

When a pitcher of Roy's caliber becomes available, you go after him!

He can't help this past year for the playoffs and is older. Only controlled for next year, instead of 1 1/2 years.

I don't think so. Probably Bowden, Bard and Reddick.

What do you mean

"He can't help this past year for the playoffs"?

It could just be my stupidity, but I don't understand what you mean

I don't think Theo will trade Bard. He wouldn't put him in the deal before

4 total. You know how the Sox don't like 5 year deals, except for those named JD Drew.

So extend him 3 more years

Doc isn't a Boras client, is he?

He was worth more if traded by this past seasons deadline because he could help in the push for the playoffs and in the playoffs. You will have him for less time no matter what.
