The Reds say they don't have any money to spend yet they also say they would like to have Ramon Hernandez back next year. The ONLY way that is happening is if they turn down his $8.5 million dollar option and then sign him for a lesser amount.

Personally, with teams needing Catchers, I don''t see him taking a $5 or $6 million dollar pay cut so as to be able to come back to the Reds. Also, I don't WANT him back with the Reds. He wasn't very good with the Orioles and he wasn't that hot with the Reds.

No, if the Reds are going to spend $4 million dollars on a Catcher, I STILL say go out and get Bengie Molina. The Giants play in more Pitcher friendly parks than the Reds do and they scored 16 fewer Runs than the Reds in 2009 yet Molina was still able to hit 20 Home Runs and drive in 80 RBI's.

So, Offensively he should be better than Hernandez. Defensively, he should be as good, if not better than Hernandez. He speaks Spanish so that should help with the Latin Pitchers and, most importantly, he was only paid $6 million in 2009 so he might be more willing to accept a $3 or $4 million dollar contract.

Except for that month while Votto was out and he carried the team on his back???

Dusty rode him like a rented mule, even while Hanigan's .300 BA cooled on the bench.

Ditto my vote for Benji Molina. If I was to bet though it will be Hanigan and Miller next season catching for the Reds.

Trying to acquire a 35 yr old molina would be a move for a team who just need to get over the hump... a good player to have on your team, but just doesnt make sense to go after him in my opinion

wont really come any cheaper than hernandez at this point and i doubt that the reds will exercise that option

If we did pick one from that list, which is doubtful. My guess would be B Schneider. I am not hoping for that, but he is the type of catcher we would bring in. He had a dreadful season, but has shown he can be a better player.
