According to Morosi of Fox News, the Marlins are talking w/ the Mariners about trading Stanton. I think the Rays have much more to offer the Marlins for Stanton than the Mariners. I hope Friedman get's on the phone NOW w/ the Marlins.

If the Mariners have sufficient talent to trade for Stanton, the Rays certainly do, too. Also, according to Forbes Magazine, the Rays are the 3rd most profitable team in MLB.

The Rays getting Stanton whould be a game changer for them, as in getting into post season and possibily winning it all.

You're right that the RFO are good business men . But turning a big profit by keeping payroll low can only work so long as the team is winning. The Rays young and super pitching staff have keep them in the hunt so far. But unless offense improves, post season looks like an unrealistic dream in 2013. Stanton would be the perfect addition to the Rays w/ his youth, power and low salary.

Without a doubt..But I'm sure they will sell the team before they file for bankrupcy..

You may be right, but it depends what the Rays give up for Stanton. We just got more pitchers from KC (besides Meyers) in the trade for Shields and Davis. One or more of these pitchers can be part of a trade. Also, there's a one of a few young arms that already pitched on the Rays roster. Also, let's nort forget position players. The Rays can consider Sean Rodrigeuz now that we got a new short stop.

The possibilities of players in a trade to get Stanton are endless. The Rays have more than enough talent to make this happen. It's a matter of will and smarts to get a player before he becomes so good that he's untouchable for the Rays b/c of his much higher value.

Molina should be a coach. He's too old to play well. But back to the subject of this thread, many posters don't know the potential of Stanton. He's hit 93 HRs in the bigs while through 22 years of age. The only player in baseball history to surpass this total is A-Rod who hit 106 before his 23rd birthday. If Stanton wasn't on the DL for part of 2011, he would have beat A-rod's record.

Stanton is a super star in the making. The Marlins covet pitching and the Rays have pitching in abundance. Even the trade that gave up Shields and Davis, got young pitchers in return, in addition to Meyers.

The Marlins are rebuilding and need young pitching. Now is the time for the Rays to get Stanton. The Rays will NEVER have an opportunity to get an offensive power player of this quality again.

Ok lets give up Molina ,Johnson and Rodrigues and throw in a player to be named later..Like next year..

Just want to correct my previous post to you. Stanton was on the DL in 2012, not 2011 which , in my opinion, is the reason he didn't hit more HRs in the Bigs(93) before age 23 than all players except A-Rod (106) in the history of MLB.

By the way, the Mariners traded for Morse(Nats), so they're out of the Stanton hunt. If Friedman hasn't called the Marlins by now regarding Stanton, he should.
