Anyone hear what happened to Carlos? I know his contract was only for 1 year. Any info??

I believe Pena's a free agent.

er I don't think he will be free although I think he owes the Rays a couple of seasons..

If Loney is a left hand hitter(I think he is), I don't see Pena platooning w/ Loney at first base. But Pena could DH against right handed pitchers if the Rays sign him for a few million $.

Pena isn't even in the picture...He will wind up in Pittsburgh or Houston..But not for 7 mil or 10 mil..Trust me..

But with Andrew's way of thinking I could be wrong..He seems to resurect careers..

I agree w/ you about Pena not getting $7M. That's why I said in my post "a few million". He made $10M on the Rays in 2010, $10M on the Cubs in 2011, and $7+M on The Rays in 2012. I'd offer him $3M w/ incentives on a one year deal. Pena and Longo were the only big power guys on the Rays in 2012 w/ BJ a close 3rd. Right now our poor offense is even worse than 2012 in that we lost BJ and Pena is unsigned.

Make that two million and I'd agree..He might learn something watching a decent hitter play his position..

At this time, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and heartfelt sympathy to the Houston Astros for signing Mr. Pena.

If only because it took away the opportunity for the Rays to re-sign him.

Carlos will do well in Houston and we get to see him 10 times during the season.....Say what you want about the K's, etc. but without Carlos here the past few years we may not have made the post season....K's and all, you cannot deny he was a big part of the Rays success......It will be tough for the Rays to go in a new direction without Carlos, BJ, Shields and Davis, but the game goes on and so will the Rays, but it will be a whjole new and different dynamics and it is way too early to say whether that will be good or bad.

Whew! Good for the Rays...*el bulleto dodgeo*. No doubt the Astro's need a "good clubhouse guy" on their roster. A .200 hitter better be a really "gcg" especially with the 190 Ks hangin' around his neck.
