"Berra was assigned to the Norfolk Tars of the Class B Piedmont League, where his most memorable feat was driving in 23 runs in a doubleheader."

sure this is the minors, but 11+ rbis in a single game?? let alone back to back games in one day is unbelievable!

holy sh!t, 23 RBI's in a doubleheader! I'd love to see the box score for that minor league game.

I grew up in southeastern Connecticut and there was an adult baseball league called the Morgan League. It was there for like, forever, but I couldn't even find it using Google, so it must've folded.

Anyhow, it was an amateur hardball spring-summer league. It existed from at least WWII and was still going in the late 70s. It was no slouch of a league - lots of college ballplayers. Right after WWII Yogi Berra, who was in the Navy, was stationed for a time in Groton/New London and played in the league. I remember reading in the New London Day that he led the league in batting one season with an average over .600.
