Once again, proof that there is no God, a professional sport, with no real reason to exist other than to provide employment to men with hyperactive pituatory glands, starts up. 82 games, played for 48 minutes each, of which nothing matter other than the final 2 minutes, and the 82 games are meaningless to 75% of the teams.

I liked it better when its earliest variant, played by the Aztecs ( or was it the Mayans? ) resulted in the death to the losing squad.

He's talking about you. NBA su.ck.s and we will "whine" about it because we watch sporting news and highlights shows and have to be sit through talk and highlights of cr.ap while we wait for them to get to the real sports (Baseball and Football).

I remember when the NHL lockout..was awesome. Then it came back =((. Also I'd like to say that I hate that ESPN now covers MMA on Sportscenter sometimes apparently.

I may be the only one here but I am a fan of just about every sport. Baseball is far ahead of all the others, but they all have their place.

Football

The last two are pretty interchangeable though. I'll watch soccer around the world cup, and just about anything when the olympics are going on. I guess I'm just a fan of competition.

I'm listening to ESPN 980 out of Washington, and all morning they've been talking about preferential calls the NBA refs, referencing some new book out, have been making in past seasons. It goes on and on about refs "basically" fixing games through game situations and player dislikes. It's incredible. There's no reason to think fair play has anything to do with game outcomes.

Whats wrong with hockey? It's fast, lots of contact, fights, the goals are usually awesome displays of hand eye...I don't see why everyone hates on that sport.

There was talk of it but the commissioner decided against it. Bad move. The players who fight should be suspended for games..not put in 'time out' for a couple minutes.

Really? The fighting helps make hockey, well hockey...they use it to swing momentum. And except for freak accidents no one ever really gets seriously injured. It'd be like saying baseballs and pucks need to be nerf foam so that if someone wears one in the head they won't be as seriously hurt.

How in the heck is anyone going to sit through a 1-0 overtime game if they can't watch a couple ice fights? Next you'll be saying beer should be banned. I bet you see no use for cheerleaders at NFL games either. What country are you from? lol
