I love CJ Wilson. he's a good reliever. But my cardiologist prefers i turn off the tv when he pitches. Can you imagine for 7-9 innings instead of 1-2, as some of the teams brass have suggested? At least Rangers fans wont be bored.

If Jeep was re-turned into a starter and he was good enough for 6 innings to go back out for more, ("Can you imagine for 7-9 innings instead of 1-2"), I'd have to say it was a good decision.

you have to excuse Hobo. when it comes to the Rangers, the word "un-biased" or "objective", or phrases like "learn from mistakes" isn't in his vocabulary. he's a Ranger "yes" man. if the Rangers announced they signed CHP to a five year deal, he'd have a rose-colored spin on it somewhere. i've suspected for years that he's on the Ranger PR payroll. lol

I will back him whichever way they decide to go.
What I do not understand is why they would want to move him back to a starter.

CHoP is having a decent revival in the Phillies bullpen.

I like the idea of moving him into the rotation. Maybe Holland is better suited for the pen, where he can focus on rediscovering his 97 mph fastball.

More in the TR's mailbag on this: apparently they asked him if he would be interested in a rotation spot at the end of the season. I've done some thinking and let us say this scenario played out:

Papelbon(apparently he is going to be shopped)is traded to the Rangers for Cruz(to replace Bay, making our OF Murphy, Hamilton, and Borbon with Boggs as the 4th OF and maybe Byrd will come back) and Millwood(to fill the #3 spot in their rotation). So you now have CJ, Feliz, Frankie, and O'day for the 7th and 8th inning and Paps for the 9th. Why not take CJ and Feliz and insert them into the rotation? They, along with Holland, have the best pure stuff on the staff. This leaves a rotation of:

1. Feldman
2. Wilson
3. Holland
4. Hunter
5. Feliz

That rotation has a TON of potential. Which guy doesn't have the capability of being a #1 or #2 pitcher? Ya Hunter really doesn't but who cares? He is a good #3 if he pitches like last year(and who is to say he doesn't improve?).

Also, we could sign Lackey or Sheets and leave Feliz in the bullpen for one more season. That would make both our pen and rotation bad a in my opinion.

I know, all these trades and signings are unlikely but, hey, it IS something to consider.

There is no way the Redsox trade Paplebon for Millwood and Cruz. Millwood is overpaid and is one year away from free agency and Cruz has had one decent season.

Well with Millwood we might have to eat a portion of his contract (5-6 million) and Cruz's value is higher than you give him credit. Maybe we can entice them to make it a blockbuster deal like:

Papelbon and Michael Bowden for Millwood, Cruz, and Saltalamacchia.

Unlikely but something to think about.

CJ is WINLESS as a starter in MANY chances if I recall right, I could NOT condone that as my #2 lol

Perhaps he's gotten better with his bullpen experiences, but experiences out of the bullpen RARELY translate into starting success (take Benoit, Feldman, Johan Santana, McCarthy, and on and on...)

Jeep started 6 games in 2005, none since. He was 0-5.

TOKYO -- Japanese high school pitcher Yusei Kikuchi has decided not to play in the U.S. major leagues for now, opting instead for Japan's professional leagues.

The 18-year-old left-hander, who throws a fastball that has been clocked as high as 96 mph said Sunday he wasn't yet ready for the majors.

"I don't think I have what it takes to complete at the world level yet," Kikuchi said at a press conference.

Eight major league teams, including the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, held talks with Kikuchi in Japan last week.

Japan's amateur draft will be held on Oct. 29 and Kikuchi is expected to be the top pick.

Once Japanese players join pro teams in Japan, they must wait nine seasons before becoming free agents.

Some players, like Daisuke Matsuzaka of the Red Sox, go to the majors earlier through the posting system that allows major league teams to bid for the negotiating rights to players.
