PMB Pals,

This may occur more than once throughout the off season.

An old saying goes, 'Everyday you learn something new'. Today, while looking up short ballplayers, I came across somehting new I did not know. I am sure more than one good PMB poster has this answer. We could have quite a few good questions and answers by spring training. So lets see how far this thread can go. This thread is everyone's.

*******What former Pirate holds the ML record for most consecutive at bats without hitting a Home Run?

"What former Pirate holds the ML record for most consecutive at bats without hitting a Home Run?"

I'm gonna guess either Jose Lind, Felix Fermin, or Omar Moreno.

PMB Pals,

A clue would be the numbr of consecutive at bats without a homerun is 3347.

He was not a pitcher. He played five and a half of his fifteen years with the Pirates.

PMB Pals,

This is a tough one. I happened upon it by accident and I never heard of the guy. I saw my Uncle yesterday and remembered how my father and he were great Pirate fans. My Uncle is now 78, and he knew the answer.

Tommy Thevenow

This is a good question, exclusive to the PMB.

Another good question:

Who had the first hit and the first homerun in Shea Stadium history?

beis,

I can only guess...It's either Pops, Roberto or Maz?

I'm going to guess...Pops just because of his HR record.

PMB Pals,

In Major League baseball history, only 25 men have played in four decades. Two of these men played with the Pirates.

*******Who are the only Pirate players who played in four decades?**********

bonesBuc,

You are correct. Jerry Ruess in one and Mickey Vernon on the '60 Pirates is the other player who played for the Pirates and played ML for part of four decades.

Good Job!!

Your question is outdated. Ivan Rodriguez passed Ted Simmons on the list.
