    • Halladay Trade?

Is this realistic and/or would you do it?

Give: Werth & Pitching Prospect (Pref. not Drabek, maybe Happ)
Get: Halladay & Relief Pitcher (Frasor?, Accardo?, Downs?)

Francisco can fill in RF until Taylor, Mayberry, etc. are deemed ready.

i think the bigger issue with that is werth and toronto. he only has 1 year left on his contract and could walk next year. he wont come cheap either if he has another season like that.

id rather not trade werth man is a star n we need some1 to protect howard. if we trade him we have NO right handed power... i wudnt mind seeing hamels go. if they trade him in the halladay trade i see him as a nice option for toronto. it shows their fans they r not jus giving up if he has a bounce back yr n they have him for 2 more yrs at 6.5 and 9.5 maybe throw in something else what i am not sure but id rather hamels then werth we need that right handed power.

Werth and Hamels for Halladay and Scutaro:

Sign Pedro Martinez

Halladay
Lee
Martinez
Blanton
Happ

Best rotation in MLB bar none.

Trust me, if you have Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay they aren't going anywhere. They won't want to.

Ok, then a prospect will needed to be included in the trade. I want Taylor starting for this team. I'm tired of our talent being either wasted or being too old that we really don't get all of the value.

Agreed, we need to sell Werth high and let our young talent Thrive.

If we can get halladay and one of the 3 relievers, I dont think anyone in Philly can be too upset.

yous are crazy... werth is the man... resign werth! . . .. i hate when he strikes out on the sliders away in the dirt tho... those AB kill me.. but werth is an awesome player to have on this team.. he is only going to get better. He would have been further along in his career statistics wise had he not of been injured like 5 years ago when he was with the dodgers.. i say keep werth ... i would say trade for some prospects, but i was pretty upset sending that platoon of minor leaguers, including lou marson (who i saw as ruiz's replacement in the future). I think that crazy GM in toronto got fired so maybe we can get something done this time and not have to give up TOO much... I really hope we can get halladay... AND WHY IS EVERYBODY HATING ON COLE... this kid is the man .. obviously hes made some mistakes this year and hasnt been on his game.. but hes got a great future infront of him... i would hate to see him go somewhere else and have a ridiculous career...I think this year should be a motivator for him in the off season to find a 3rd pitch ... that curveball or whatever he throws now is garbage... His change up and fastball are awesome but he has to get that 3rd pitch down... In any case ... im rambling on... Basically hopefully... WE get halladay for someone we wont miss too much

LEE
HALLADAY
HAMELS
HAPP
BLANTON

maybe we could trade jamie moyer... hahahaha

"including lou marson (who i saw as ruiz's replacement in the future). I"

Marson is not better than D'Arnaud.

I love that idea.....Werth is an amazing player and I would miss him on the team but we do have some good talent coming up, taylor, brown, etc. What about Victorino? He usually is fairly good in the outfield but has slowed down offensively and did make some not so good plays and seems to get irritated easily. Hamels would probably have the opportunity to redefine himself. I think Hamels will never be who he was a year ago for Philly so a new town and team would definately help him out. The rotation of Lee, Halliday, Happ, Blanton is awesome but I really do not see Pedro coming back....But our AAA and AA teams have some possible starters especially Drabek. I want Drabek up in Philly soon especially because the team is basically placing a large value on him as the future star. But, I really need the phillies to keep happ....i love him :)

You are in the ball park but no way do you trade Werth, thats just crazy, you dont know how good Werth can be, hes still getting his feet wet.

The move to make is Ibanez, yeah you wont get much if any value for a 38 y.o. outfielder with groin problems, but you are only looking to move salary and create space in LF for Michael Taylor. There are teams that would gladly take Raul and his 2 yr $20 M contract off your hands.

Halladay?

Offer Domonic Brown,JA Happ,Nick Gose. Thats the Phils #1 prospect , NL Rookie of the Year, most prolific base stealer in all of baseball in 2009. The Jays wont blink this time thats a great offer to begin rebuilding.

ibanez isnt really tradeable. i understand your point, but if someone gets dealt, my guess is it's werth. he has the most value and being a free agent at the end of next year, i dont see him coming back in 2011. i hope im wrong, but just putting numbers in.

The Phillies have a plan..... Taylor and Brown are going to replace Werth and Ibanez. Taylor will replace Werth and Brown will replace Ibanez.

They are not going to pay Werth $10m per yr when they can use that money on pitching. Amaro is very smart and that is why he wouldnt deal either for Lee or Halladay.
