    • OT: Yankees parade..yuck !!

I tune into ESPN News and they're covering the Yankees parade. That's all well and good, but ESPN News is giving the Yankees parade FULL coverage, from beginning to end.

The coverage they gave to the Phillies parade was miniscule in comparision to the Yankees parade. I remember last year where ESPN news would cover part of the Phils parade. They would cover most of it, then they'd go to regular programming. Then they'd cut in again.

I watched the entire Phils parade on MLB.com. They had coverage from beginning to end, even Utley's WFC words. The mlb.com's feed of the Phils parade was a whole lot better than ESPN's coverage.

My point to this thread is that ESPN loves the Yankees!! But we all knew that, right ;)

Wouldn't it be a decision based on ratings......So yes, ESPN loves the Yankees/higher ratings.

Love them or hate them they pull in an audience...

Probably because of the ratings, but I think it's not just because of the ratings. ESPN LOVES the Yankees no matter what.

Well i can't comment on our coverage since I was there last year but what do you expect. They did the same for the Red Sox as well. And if I'm not mistaken when the Lakers won the NBA Title. The media loves these teams from NY, Bos, LA and Chicago (maybe not the Bulls these days which I don't mind the coverage since I'm a fan in another state).

Sallyann, an observation here. If you go ask Yankee fans about their opinion of ESPN, and exclude today's coverage, it's resounding condemnation because they feel ESPN has biased coverage against the Yankees and towards the Red Sox. So I don't think that you can say ESPN loves the Yankees no matter what.

Furthermore, fans of teams in Chicago are convinced that ESPN favors all things "eastern" -- and they go so far as to label ESPN the "Eastern Sports Promotional Network." It all depends on whose ox is being gored, it seems.

Absolutely, I have relatives in New England who feel the same way. We all laugh when we watch a Red Sox-Yankees game together. If you were in the room with us, and heard the comments, you'd swear no way were we listening to the same broadcast together.

ESPN always covers the generic stories...

USC
Notre Dame.
Florida State
the Lakers
The Celtics
Lebron James
Kobe
A Rod
Terrell Owens
the Patriots
the Cowboys
Tony Romo
and Chad Johnson

none of it is news... its just highlights of big, BIG sports teams and players...

Philles will get their respect eventually.. you know it!

I turned the game off right after the last out. Did not watch any of the post game coverage and did not watch any of the parade coverage today either.

Some may call it denial, I just couldn't bring myself to watch NY arrogance on display for that long.

We will get them next year.

I watched a few clips and saw some pics and it was definately not the type of parade/celebration that the phillies had last year......not even close to any of the recent ones. It was just no very exciting

I only watched about a couple of minutes total, but not straight through. And I agree with you, it definately was not like the Phillies celebration of last year and not exciting. The Yankees had their speeches at city hall, where you could sit and listen, only if you had tickets. The Yankees parade had marching bands (one I saw anyway). It was just like an ordinary parade, except the floats had Yankees on them.

The Yankees' parade did look tame on TV — but, I was there and it was LOUD and exciting. TV made it look/feel like a St. Paddy's Day Parade in Park Slope!
