the phils need to FIRE on all cylindars to win this game!

the hitters have to be patient, and make good contact. they need to put up runs early and late.

pedro has to be sharp, mentally tough and pound the strike zone.

The phils have to make plays on the field!

THE BULLPEN!!! has to step it up!

they need to throw strikes! they cant get rattled! and they have to have shut down innings.

lets do this!

So if the Phillies win Game 6 (I think they stand a good chance of winning on Wednesday), do you think the momentum shifts to the Phillies or is it still with the Yankees?

The saying is: "Momentum is only as good as the next day's starter." I don't think that statement is any truer than it is in the WS.

The problem is that the momentum is always going to shift the yankees way towards the end of the game.

i dont see any other option...

unless they go with Happ?

I thought they would start with Pedro and use Happ as a long man.

and if they are lucky enough to force a game seven.. it would look to be Hamels, Blanton, Happ, and Lee plus the bullpen.

Wednesday, November 4 Tickets Yankee Stadium | 7:57 PM ET
PHI Pedro Martinez, RHP (0-1, 4.50)
Phillies @ NYY Andy Pettitte, LHP (1-0, 6.00)
Yankees

Scouting Report:
Phillies: Phillies right-hander Pedro Martinez gets a chance to add to his legend at Yankee Stadium in Game 6 of the World Series. Martinez allowed three runs in six innings in a 3-1 loss to the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in Game 2. He will be pitching on five days' rest, while Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte will be pitching on three days' rest. That could be an advantage for Martinez, although he knows there are few easy outs in the Yankees lineup. But Martinez, who called himself the most influential player in Yankee Stadium history, certainly is not going to shy away from the situation.

Yankees: While Pettitte is expected to make the start, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after the Game 5 loss that nothing has been officially decided. "Physically I've got to see how he is," Girardi said. "He threw a side [Monday] and felt good. But I'll check with him [Tuesday]."

I heard on another message board that Pettitte told teammates yesterday that he had/has nothing left. I don't think he'll end up pitching.

If not though, who would it be? Gaudin?

Not sure. But it's a safe bet that Pedro will only go 5-6 innings and I am a little nervous about our bullpen.

If it's Pettitte we need to lay off that slider and curve in the dirt. Make him throw fastballs. Otherwise we can walk around the bases. When we do get a straight fastball, deposit it!

Same with Gaudin. Gotta do our homework!

Yanks have all pressure on them, crowd will be nuts!

Plus the Chokes of 2001 and 2003 WS staring at them!

2001---up 3-2 to Arizona, lost it in Arizona!!
2003---up 2-1 to Florida, lost 3 straight!!

The MOJO is against them!!

I really wouldnt want anyone else out there other than Pedro or Lee...and since Lee cant pitch on three days rest, he certainly can't go on two days. Go Pedro! Go Phils!

It's going to be Pettitte. WFAN said Girardi will announce it later today.

Andy playing the "I have nothing" card is a win-win situation for him.

If he loses Game 6, it's Girardi's fault

If he wins Game 6, he's the Ultimate Yankee Hero again and they'll be comparing it to Michael Jordan's flu game.

I am already nervous for this game! lol. I have a feeling Pedro will be dominant, but this game will depend on how much we can get to Pettitte.. and of course, the bullpens.

I'm hopeful though. GO PHILLIES!!!!!
