    • Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel calls out Tim McCarver

Fox TV commentator Tim McCarver repeatedly second-guessed Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel for not starting baserunners Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino on a 3-and-2 pitch to Chase Utley with one out in the eighth inning of Thursday's Game 2. With the runners anchored, Utley bounced into an inning-ending double play, helping the Yankees escape with a 3-1 win.

On Friday Manuel appeared to call out McCarver, although he never mentioned the 21-year big league veteran by name: "You know what? I didn't even have to think about that," said Manuel, who had slugger Ryan Howard waiting on deck. "I'll do that as long as I live. I don't give a damm who's played 20 years or 50 years and think they know; that's not the right way to play the game."

Good job, Charlie--because McCarver can be a real loud-mouth idiot

If you have two of the fastest runners in baseball and a pitcher who can't hold runners on and a catcher who can't throw runners out, what's the point of not sending the runners? Rollins and Victorino have been running in that situation all year long. Sounds to me like Charlie Manuel and his coaching staff had a brain freeze and now he's being defensive about it.

As for Tim McCarver, he deserves to be on the Phillies Wall of Fame.

Is this a real quote? because you spelled dam.n wrong. I'm guessing that's because you cant actually spell dam.n on here, so you just altered it. Not calling you out, just wondering if you paraphrased it.

There are all sorts of ways the bat gets taken out of Howard's hands if the runners are going

1) The runners go, and Chase strikes out. Now Howard comes up with an open base- there is no way Howard gets pitched to.

2) Chase strikes out and a runner gets caught stealing.

3) Chase lines into a double play.

There is only one way the bat is taken out of Howard's hands if the runners don't go

1) Utley grounds into a double play.

Yes. I was about to say that McCarver is showing a little emotion there. He's rooting for Philly inside and so that play probably bothered his inner fan.

Beyond that, it was hardly out of line McCarver to point that out. It was a good idea and many managers would probably agree.

McCarver can be difficult to listen too. His man crush on all the Yankees is gross.

LOL...just a silly pic of a Californian ( I assume that is where she is from). What other state would condone the use of a puppy as a belt clip accessory? hehe

Charlie also stabbed McCarver and peed on his leg...According to those familiar with the situation.
