He was just released by the Giants, and the Padres have a trend for going after players San Fran ditches. Used to be a pretty solid starter, and we could use a few more good arms. Question is do we take a gamble on more damaged goods here, if the price is in our budget?

Gamble? He won't cost much coming off an arm injury. They should definitely go after one of Lowry, Harden, Bedard, Mulder, Sheets.... to add another vet to the rotation.

Out of the names you have mentioned, I would love to have one or two of Harden, Bedard, and Sheets.

Yeah he would have to be cheap , but dont expect much . I can remember how excited every one here was that we got Prior .
