both have a little power and speed----and play pretty good defense...
this gives us a better bench, than anytime this year...

Ya I like our bench of Mclouth Ford and Andino /Betemit.Maybe Mclouth can be as good as he was when he was a all star.

I agree. I think both are good additions and better Endy Chavez.

Ya I only wish Flaherty left instead of Pearce.

The only issue I see with these guys on the roster is the platoon situation. Buck will probably platoon a lot of these players and it's harder to get into a good rhythm when you're not playing everyday. I would give a majority of the starts to Mclouth. He seems to have more upside IMO.

Yea, I agree. I'm in Atlanta and saw Steve play today. He's batting .308.

Yeah, much rather have guys that reach base once out of every 10 at bats then have a guy like Pearce that reaches base, knocks in runs, and score runs as well. It would be horrible if we ever scored a few runs during a game, now wouldn't it?

Pearce reached base 3 time during his 4 at bats last night. How many Orioles can say that int he past week? For the Stros, Pearce also accounted for 4 runs in the 4 previous games, once again, how many Orioles can say that? I know that we don't like scoring runs and that we don't like good defense, but why do we like to make it harder to win when there is an easier route?

Giving up Pearce just so that McLouth can prove to the world that is really a professional baseball player and not just some clown with a cool sounding name is beyond crazy, especially when you consider that we jettisoned Pearce while keeping Endy freakin' Chavez on the team. Are you kidding me? Hey, lets dump Chen and make room for Berken to start. That makes as much sense.

Batting average only matters to those that want to keep Vlad around for a while. If you look at our stats and thow out sample size, then I'm sure you can find a player or two that have hit that well, maybe a pitcher went 1-1 in interleague play? The think for me is that Pearce got on base better than most, made less erros than most, and given the sample size seemed to score more runs and knock in more runs than most. If we don't want players that don't make errors, get on base, score runs, and knock in runs than what are we doing here? Why don't we want to win more than what we are? Sure, we just beat Hellickson and Price, but why beat them 4-0 or 2-0 when we can beat them both 6-0? Why give up wins in exchange for losses? I don't understand jettising Pearce who was tearing things up in the MFY organization and forced his way to the majors.

Seriously, I'm tryna get that Papa John's half off. We can't do that only scoring between 1 and 3 runs.

Really though, I don't understand why they waited to get rid of Chavez at the expense of losing Pearce. I'd prefer Pearce over both McClouth and Lew Ford, guys who's best seasons are 4 and 8 years ago respectively. I think the league has yet to see the best of Pearce (or at least I hope so).

Ya he's never really got a chance he hasn't played a lot of games but he still is decent and I would rather have him than Chavez Reynolds or Ford.

I agree. He's 1-2 and has gotten 1 of Houston's 3 hits against the Nats right now. I like guys that get on base, knock in runs, and score runs themselves.
