Hey All, good win today & hope you all had a good weekend. Just tuning in to the MLB Network and they were saying that Kevin Youkilis is headed to the White Sox. Don't know a lot of details, but just wanted to pass it along to you guys. I can't help but think of all the times he's hurt us over the years ! But, he won't have 18 games a year to do it now, at least :)

Another pretty good weekend. Let's keep it going & get ready for the Angels. We're only 2 behind the all mighty Yankees. Go O's !

"David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com tweets the White Sox gave up pitcher Zach Stewart and a utility player. Heyman tweets the utility player is Brent Lillibridge."

I personally couldn't stomach looking at him myself.... mostly because we couldn't ever get him out in a clutch situation.

The Red Sox traded Youk and $5.5MM (of approximately $6MM remaining salary) in exchange for a replacement-level utility man and a depth-pitcher (who cost around $500K in remaining salary for 2012). Essentially, the Red Sox felt that Youkilis couldn't help them anymore than a mediocre defender at multiple positions with no bat. The White Sox did manage to upgrade though, since their third basemen have "produced" -1.8 WAR season-to-date. Even if Youkilis produces at a replacement level, which he's likely to exceed, they found an upgrade for free. Nice job Kenny Williams.

It's too bad we had to give up Matt Antonelli.

If the Red Sox wanted Stewart and Lillibridge, we could have given them Antonelli and Jason Berken for Youkilis and $5.5 MM. It would have been a similar package.

I knew that letting Antonelli go would come back to haunt us. :)

Haha. League average bat with below average defense is what we're getting from Betemit. I don't seem to think that we'd be getting much better from Youk.

Another missed opportunity for the O's, easy swap, Reynold and a prospect for Youk? Decent hitting, and better at defense than Reynolds? Why do we always pass these chances up? They better decide what to do that Reimold is out for the year and they need help there, and starting picthing is not gonna hold up for the rest of the year? Were in a Pennant race. I feel in the next within the next weeks the wheels are gonna fall off. We need at least one power hitter and 2 decent starting pitchers. I'm looking towards the playoffs NOT bellying around at .500.

I would take Reynolds over Youkilis for the rest of the year.

I would rather take Youks defense over Reynolds defense any day. Reynolds is an error machine, besides that he strikes outs too much.

Reynolds hasn't been playing the field. It would be Betemit's defense versus Youkilis's defense at this point. Youkilis is aging and his defense has been in decline. Reynold's strikeouts aren't nearly as big a deal as you seem to think that they are.

On May 1 Reynolds went 0-3 but walked once. That lowered his hitting line to .136/.260/.197. He had 4 doubles but no home runs and had scored just 4 runs and knocked in 3.

In May and June he's played in 32 games and in those 32 games Reynolds has 124 plate appearances. He's hit .277/.395/.535 with 8 doubles and 6 home runs, scored 19 runs and picked up 19 RBI. Reynolds has walked 19 times and struck out 32 times in May and June.

Despite his awful month of April, in 62 plate appearances against LH starters, Reynolds has hit .294 (15-51) with 5 doubles, 3 homers, 10 BB and 14 strikeouts, scored 11 runs and knocked in 10. His OBP against lefty starters is .403 and his SLG is .569.

By the numbers, he's a pretty good bet against C.J. Wilson tonight although, by luck of the draw, he's never faced Wilson, who didn't pitch against the Orioles last year. Before that, the two were in different leagues, of course.

Reynolds needs to step up and be some of what he was last year, or we just gonna fade. Cant rely everything on our pitching.

After tonight performance do you still have confidence in Reynolds?
