The 27th world series is on the way folks. The Yankees mean business this year and aren't settling for less than perfection. The angels aren't going to be easy... they never are but if the bombers play hard the alcs is in the bag

I don't hate the Yankees and I don't care for the AL, but it will be fun to watch whatever Steinbrenner running the team this week go nuclear if they lose.

There was a legendary thread on the W. Sox board started by a Cubs fan that counted their chickens before they were hatched circa October 2004. Now, I think the Yankees are probably the most likely team to win, but it's not "in the bag".

Let's suppose Pujols was a free agent. What would The Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers offer him?
Pujols + Big market team = 35 to 40 million. Pujols will probably play for the Cardinals his whole career, which is great, but that means he will never get an A-rod, or Manny type monster contract. Doesn't matter, because everyone knows he's the best player in the game right now.

yes. and i agree. i just hate seeing the yankees throw money at players only so the other teams dont get them. like i said, aroid is NOT worth 33 million a year. and i cant believe they gave cc all that money considering his post season record. even though he did good in game 1 agaisnt the twins. i dont know. but ask anyone outside of new york, they HATE the yankees

You know, thousands of people won't even watch the WS just because the Yankees are there. For the good of baseball, I hope they are not.

There are more non Yankee fans then Yankee fans, many of whom would watch whatever teams were there. Many diehard baseball people who used to watch no matter who was there simply stopped watching during the last Yankee run out of protest. It was so bad from the network's point of view that they complained to MLB and wanted free time back.

In 2003 the last time the Yanks made it to the series it had the highest TV rating of any series this decade excluding the Red Sox 2004 series. Third highest behind 04, and 03 was the Yanks/D-backs in 01.

Contracts are two way streets. The players have to sign them.

As for CC's postseason record, pretty small sample size. Last year, the Brewers pushed him way too hard toward the end of the season, if though they pretty much had too. He was out of steam in the playoffs.

of course players are gonna sign those contracts. who can possibly turn away that kind of money. regarding cc, he was also horrible with the indians in 07. he basically cost them the alcs, because beckett had him beat.
