The only person in the ballpark with the authority to interfere with a dog's whim is the home plate umpire, and he may do so only by taking off a shoe and chasing it off while shaking the shoe over his head. The umpire may only involve himself in extreme instances of dog tomfoolery where people are being hurt emotionally.
