    • Trade for Soriano?

Rumors are that the Cubs would be willing to eat $26m of the $36m he is owed over the next two seasons.

Is it worth giving the Cubs a call for?

I mean the guy hasn't been great but does provide some solid offense, especially power.

We could use his bat but imagine him and Duda in the same outfield. Brutal.

read the same thing. though it was said they would want a very good prospect back in return for paying that much of remaining salary. this rumor has been around for a couple months.

I wonder if he could still play second base?

Duda in Left, Soriano in Right. a rocket ship strapped to the CFer might get it done. at least it would help our offense having Soriano to slot between Ike & Duda

Soriano should be a DH

It's interesting - I do see people make comments about Soriano being a butcher defensively and yet the stats completely contradict that. He was miserable at second base but in the outfield, his UZR has consistently been pretty darn good.

I'd take Soriano if he costed next to nothing to get and just had to pay $$$

He's looked bad when I've seen him.

Didn't Garza just get injured, maybe they will be looking for a starter to replace him if it turns out to be serious.

maybe a 3team trade. Duda to the Brewers, Soriano here, & prospects to the Cubs

I'm not giving up Gee/Mejia/Famila or anyone like that for Soriano. If they want an arm, maybe some AAA pitcher?

I would trade any one of those 3 for Soriano if they eat he majority of his contract.

no way...I would never do that. I would MUCH rather the Mets eat more money and we pay next to nothing in talent.

If Gee was a free agent would you sign him for 26m?

no, why? I do believe keeping Gee is worth more than trading him for Soriano and paying $$ on top of that. If Soriano was the player he was 10 years ago...that's different. I just couldn't do that. I'd much rather trade for Willingham.
