It is a no brainer to sign Valverde to a one year deal if he will do it. Valverde is a much better option than Parnell and it will allow us to maintain depth. This team just needs t oadd talent whereever it can. I certainly want to see more talent in the OF but if it isn't available, the bullpen talent is. We don't lose a draft pick, no long term contract is needed since he is still on the market and is desperate and he can close or setup based on how he does. If Frankie comes back, that would give us Velvarde to close, Parnell and Lyons to setup, Atchinson and Frankie for the 6th and 7th innings. Two lefties can also be that group too.

I have a feeling that Frankie's elbow is going to be trouble most of the whole year.

The Tigers wouldn't use him last postseason. He must not be very good.

from what i saw last few years leyland OVERUSED valverde alot.
at times he would need 40/50 pitches to get a save and be useless for days on end.

1 yr deal, $5m with incentives, absolutely. another mid season trade chip if he rebounds.

Would NOT sign soon to be 35 yr old Valverde for more than $2M - $3M TOPS (ONE yr).
