Shouldn't Sandy keep pushing for a ruling on whether the Mets draft pick should have "protected" status. We need to define a fair precedent for future generations of 11th draft pick holders in our situation.

Not sure I'd blame Sandy on this one. From what I understand, we offered the same contract, without the 5th year option.
Bourne said the Indians were closer to competing NOW, than the Mets, and that played a role in his decision.
Plus Bourne's contract is backloaded. My guess, is that the Indians give it a shot now, and trade him, if they don't win it all.

I expect Borne to be on a different team next year or year after.
