Wouldn't we know if the team elected him captain? You can bet we would hear about it.

Teams don't elect captains in baseball. This is not the NHL. Captains in baseball mean nothing

I don't mean that they should literally vote on it. I mean that there should be a very strong consensus among the team that Wright should be named captain. If it comes from Collins or something, its dumb.

I don't think the players thought it was necessary to let the message boards know of their decision =P

Terry announced it today. I'm sure he'd know more about the clubhouse than us.

You seem misinformed...Terry did not name David anything today.

*Ahem* You were saying?

Look, just because he is a clubhouse captain doesn't mean he has to wear a 'C'. It's tacky. And honestly, the team viewed David as the captain last year.

So do you want to see ballots or something?

Wright stopped leading at the brake last year because he was beefing with the Wilpons over money.

He is a tainted captain, Delgado taught him how to quit.

Why don't you get off this schtick you have about quitting? It is weak.

I didn't see the same leader in the second half that I did in the first. I remember in the first he was getting guys together in the dugout, saving Ike from the umps etc.

The second half I,didn't see anything worth mentioning.

Well he made it clear to the owners and his agent that he would not negotiate during the season so you reasoning is flawed.

He had to say that so he doesn't get accused of being distracted.

But after the MVP like start I bet maybe then he wanted to have a little chat see...?

who wouldn't?

Seriously? What kind of negotiating tactics do you know? Quit until you get paid... next offseason?

This is a business, not high school.

lol I was saying that he wasn't named captain, and he wasn't. Collins basically said he has already taken on the leader/captain role on his team, so there is no reason to officially name him captain.

He is not the captain, and hasn't been named captain. Skewing some quotes from Collins doesn't change that.
