Well Spring Training has started, and P&C have reported. The good news is, 55 players have already reported to camp. Mejia has not reported yet due to visa problems, which is never good. Santana is healthy, and says he could have pitched in the WBC, but will not. TDA is looking good in the cage, and maybe has a chance to go north with the team.

The team is not great, and we know it's faults, but ST is here and I am excited for some baseball.

I will continue to try to find encouraging news all spring, and maybe all season if I can. I went to read about Pitchers and Catchers, and was surprised to see almost the entire team showed up. There is a lot of divisiveness on this board, but not on the team, and thats a really good thing.

I know what the reality of the team is, but I remain optimistic. Nothing is going to happen this year (signings etc) to make us WS champs. While I wish it wasn't so, I will still enjoy watching the team, through wins, losses, errors, and all that good stuff. Nothing we say here, good or bad, is going to affect the team and that is a very good thing. Fans complain at times, it is what it is. But, I refuse to allow myself to get miserable about it. Its Spring Training now, then the season. Its baseball time again, gotta love it. LGM!!

Thats the spirit! Who knows... maybe they pull games out they shouldn't, and if they stay healthy maybe they make a run. They don't have the talent of the Nats or Braves, and it is not likely at all, but you never know.

I have a friend that in the Winter lives only 15 mins away and goes to ST games frequently and at least once a week he calls with his updates. I have to warn you that he is always optimistic in his reports. He gets his fill of live viewing while down there because he comes North at the same time they do and like me he doesn't drive down too often to see them during the season. He also bring signed stuff for friends with him. He says it is so easy to get a players signature when he is there. He says even the star players like DW and Santana are easy. He goes to the practice facilities when they are playing away and all those players that don't take the trip are easy to hunt down to sign balls, caps, programs, pennants, etc. He gets a lot of requests.

Amen and maybe they suprise

Thats cool. I was in Fla last year for a wedding, and was able to go to see them play in Jupiter. Dickey pitched, and I got to meet Parnell as my seats were right next to the BP. It was a lot of fun. I'd definitely go back if given the chance.

For me the positives include Harvey, Tejada, Ike and Edgin. Kirk better produce now. Question: Francisco is out with elbow inflammation. From what? Was he throwing already?

They were 46-39 with a toxic bullpen and zero from Davis, almost nothing behind the plate, and an outfield that was, believe it or not, worse. You never know who might surprise.

Dan, even though I know in my heart of hearts that we are in for some pain, I will share in your enthusiasm and say "Let's Go Mets!"
