Just happened. This is big news to a lot of people. First pope to resign in over 600 hundred years.

Is the Catholic church <sex scandal broadening?

Is white smoke going to come out of the chimney?

Pretty much everything I know about the pope is from Eurotrip.

He says it's due to health reasons. I guess if the scandal broadens other possible reasons could be considered. He's already been the focal point of a sex scandal when he was a Cardinal. In the 80s a priest abused a boy and the Pope wrote a letter in favor of not defrocking the priest. I doubt his very conservative views are held by a majority of Catholics worldwide. His election as Pope seemed like the wrong choice to me at the time.

Yes, it's as probable as just about any other possibility. What makes me scratch my head over the "health reasons" is the job itself. Popes are *usually* lifetime appointments, as we all know. Now, if there was something wrong with his cognitive abilities, I'd be less suspicious, tho' they are unlikely to cite that as a reason.

Physical infirimity?? I just don't know.

The header clearly says: OT

That means it *isn't* about the Mets or baseball which should encourage you to bypass it altogether.

If you choose not to.....

Whether he was the wrong choice or not I think his predecessor was considered too progressive (if that's even possible for a Pope) so I knew they would head in a more conservative direction

They shouldn't have let him walk. They could have traded him for a couple of mid-level seminarians.
