Mets interested in Roy Oswalt

5.80The Mets have showed interested in free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt, and the door has not fully closed even with the addition of Shaun Marcum to round out the projected rotation, a baseball source told ESPNNewYork.com.

Oswalt, 35, went 4-3 with a 5.80 ERA in 17 appearances (nine starts) in 2012 with the Texas Rangers. He made his season debut June 22 -- less than four weeks after signing with the club on a minor league deal.

Oswalt worked entirely in relief last September. He made only 23 starts in 2011 because of lower-back inflammation.

I am as positive as they come. LOL But what happened to Bourn they seem to be interested in any aging SP.

This is true. Seems like that was just a one day thing. SA has patience that's for dammn sure. LGM!

When you 16 bullet clip only has 6 shots in it you use them sparingly and wisely until you get more ammo!!

Yeah they were also interested in every other known name this offseason. Sizemore, Upton, Wilson, Pavano, Liriano, Bourn, etc. etc.

If it was 5+ years ago I'd be happy, but now he doesn't have much left in the tank and he's injury prone.

And now comes word directly from Oswalt's agent via Marc Carig on Twitter: "I'm not aware of any interest". Guess it's not serious interest just yet.

Oswalt has always had personality problems. The Mets let Sheffield go, they don't need to replace him with the same personality...especially since Oswalt has been mediocre, and injury ridden during the last few seasons.

Not sure the Mets have shown any interest or not, but whether they did or didn't, this would be far from the first agent to claim ignorance about his client's suitors. lol

I'm not sure why. It doesn't make sense to me.

Doubtful if it's for he pen. It means two things:
1. They have no confidence in Gee as a starter.
2. They want Wheeler to spend a full season in AAA.

And his agent says he has had no contact with the Mets.....
