Alderson's 'message to Mets fans'

Sandy Alderson offered this lighthearted monologue about the Mets' work-in-progress outfield during Saturday night's Baseball Writers' Association of America dinner, during which MLB's national baseball awards were presented.

"A message to Mets fans," Alderson began. "There's been a lot of talk about our outfield. And I want you to know that I'm in serious discussions with several outfielders I met on the internet.

"There's one I really like. He says he played at Stanford."

The Mets were 22nd in the majors in home runs with 139. Only five National League teams hit fewer home runs.

It was a Manti Te'o joke, not a cryptic message.

Lame is right especially since Te'o's fictitious dead girlfriend would probably be a starter in our outfield.

Its sad just how little understanding this FO has of what its fans are feeling. Why crack stupid jokes when the biggest joke is the one playing at citi field. Funny thing is that just like the fictional girlfriend doesn't exist neither does our outfield.

Heh, it's funny.

But don't expect any sell out crowds.

Doesn't anyone find it disrespectfull that the GM puts his own players down?
Regarless of how good or bad, I am sure that Duda, Capt. Kirk, Baxter and the other invitees cannot be filling happy about the comments.

So Spindy is good at lying (about payroll), and cracking jokes about deficiencies in his team (for which he gets paid handsomely to put together). And while the outfield he (failed to) put together is so lame the GM himself repeatedly jokes about it, they raise ticket prices.

Maybe Sandy would be motivated to sign decent players?

"Maybe the Wilpons would be motivated to give SA the money and autonomy to sign more than just decent players?"

Fixed.
