Career stat line .301-.381- .506-.887- ...Seriously, what do people expect him to do? He's already the best offensive Met player ever and he's only in his early 30's. He's a top 10-15 hitter in the NL and is the best third baseman in the NL. Wright has done too much for this franchise. It's not his fault he's surrounded by a bunch of scrubs.

You went from calling him the best third baseman in the majors to the best in the NL in one thread. For the record, Beltre, Cabrera, Headley, Longoria, either Ramirez, Zimmerman, and very possibly Michael Young are better. So, I will agree that he's the sixth best in the NL and the 9th best in the majors...hardly elite.

"You went from calling him the best third baseman in the majors to the best in the NL in one thread"

No, I said, he's top 3-5 in the majors but is the best in the NL. Zimmerman is not better offensivley, he's better defensvily, but that's it. On top of that he can't stay healthy. Ramirez??? Are you kidding me?! Maybe if you are just basing this off 2012, yes, but as a totality Wright is 10x better. Headly? Other than 2012 what has he done? That's right, nothing. Michael Young is more of a second baseman, he's not truly a third baseman.

I'll give you Longo, Cabrera, and Beltre... but that's.

Wright is top 5 in majors and best in NL. Just admit and be done with it.

I actually find it comical that you think Zimmerman and Headly are better than Wright. Zimmerman is 2x all star whilst Wright is a 7x all star. Zimmerman has only batted over .300 once in his career, Wright has batted over .300 six times. Zimmerman has only finished in MVP voting 3x, Wright has finished in MVP voting 5x. So, how can you say Wright isn't elite, but Zimmerman is? Are you that dense?

As far as Headly goes, he turned it around this year at the age of 28. Other than that, he was terrible! Look at it yourself www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/headlch01.shtml

You really rank him ahead of Wright?

Your either dumb or have some hatred.

>I'll give you Longo, Cabrera, and Beltre

Yup. For all Wright's real or perceived faults, those are the only 3rd baseman that are clearly better

Wright. Was a very good hitter first three years. Not any more . He is above average good hitter now.

the problem with Wright is that the fans were fooled into thinking he was a special type of ball player who was a Gold Glove caliber defender.

It turns out he is not.

He's an above average hitter with 20 HR power and highly OVERRATED defensively

So you've gone from "best in the majors" to "best in the NL" to "elite" to "above average" in one thread...if we keep this thread going you'll be saying he's garbage by noon.

I did not start this thread . The one who started it said he is the best. I said he is above average. Thats it. Whatever happens by noon its up to you or someone else.

How are you going to cite his stats from 04-08 when he hasn't come close to approaching them in 3 seasons now?

And Zimmerman hasn't had a season as good as 2009 since then.

All of these koolaiders cherry pick stats to paint us as a good team. Yet we finish with 75 wins every year.

Have I said anything about Zimmerman? I'm just here to point out that whiffboy is not the correct guy to lead our offense. He's not talented enough.

"Have I said anything about Zimmerman? "
No. It was meant as a general comment. Since you can't stand DW I assume you think Zimmerman is vastly superior.

"I'm just here to point out that whiffboy is not the correct guy to lead our offense."
Nobody "leads" an offense. How well a hitter does has a lot to do with the guys around him in the lineup. And 2012 was a very good year for him. I take that as a sign he's not done, and might approach his best years in the seasons to come.

Ya, lets just forget about last years first half for Wright while were at it.

Scrubs like him do that year in and year out.
